We are in an awful spot. We need a high quality manager, but unless we overpay, who's going to come to us in this state.

Squad is midtable calibre at best. Anyone who comes in will probably still be working to the expectation of being a top 6 team when we are miles off that.

Seems most of the fans want poch for good ol memories sake, when in reality the guy won nothing over 5 years when he had a plethora of talent. Give him this squad, what is he going to produce?

Doesn’t matter what manager you get in theyre still gunna have to play fucking Tel and Odebert with an average striker in Solanke and a bullshit midfield of youngsters, no creative players etc etc

Its a fucking shitshow. Only Poch understands the club and how badly things are run. Half this squad needs selling.

If it isn’t Poch then it’s relegation for this club. Every other manager is just going to try their fancy poncy tactics and get pumped every week whilst ENIC continues to throw shit at them in the transfer market.

It has to be a caretaker for one simple reason

Imagine we get a new full time manager, first match the Goonies who will be looking to crush us. If it's 4 or 5 nil to them, the new manager is under serious pressure, then he goes to Fulham, what if he loses that? Then on to a 6 pointer with Palace. Lose all three and let's be honest, we would want a new manager again.

Everyone will lap this up and applaud it but I’m telling you, this isn’t the Pochettino we had a decade ago. His Chelsea tenure was awful, saved only by a 10 match purple patch where they played teams with nothing to play for and Thiago Silva basically doing on-pitch tactical instruction. Go watch the 0-4 to Woolwich in April 2024, I’m telling you he hasn’t got it.

Has been shocking with the US as well.

If and when he fails here… we will have no more last resorts left. It will break the club to see Poch ruin his reputation here.

We are rarely aligned here.

Poch would be a disappointment even if this was his first time here - i dont think the fanbase could handle the reality of what his return would end up doing to them.

I agree it won't be the Poch of old, but I think you've gone a bit hard on his Chelsea stint. They were dog-rough in the first half of the season, but they literally lost 3 games in the entire second half. The Woolwich performance was a joke but they were a much, much improved team as the season went on and Chelsea fans wanted to keep him. He wont have us challenging at the very top but I think he might be what the club needs right now. Someone to unite everyone and stabalise everything.

My money is on De Zerbi.
He’s got a style, he’s as good as we’re gonna get, and if Spurs wait until after the World Cup we’ll be facing Watford on our opening day and there’s no way Poch or anyone else coming off a WC team join us for that.

They'll get Poch in, you'll sing his song and excuse all his stubborn bullshit in exchange for feelz.

And it will be business, and mediocrity, as usual.

It's just too easy for ENIC.

If I was them -- intending to continue in the exactly the same vein -- it's the appointment I'd make.
I would get behind Poch again

Still don’t see them doing it. They will want their own man.

They’ve already started the excuses about not available now.

I’m expecting to hear soon that they don’t want an interim and prefer a permanent solution.

And if/when he doesn't get backed (again), the players down tools on him (again), and we struggle under him (again), you'll still have large segments of the support backing him because idk vibes or he understands the club or something. Board will be afraid to sack him in that case.

Stop being rational. Let me feel dammit!

What's poch going to do differently? he's still going to have to play Tel and Odebert? How exactly is it any different.

Going by the cuck manager who just got sacked, can't see Vinai hiring a fiery De Zerbi

I don't get all this De Zerbi smoke, not really a club fit and he's not going to toe the line.

They also drew to Burnley and Sheffield in that run in hugely frustrating fashion. They basically beat sleepwalking midtable teams with nothing to play for and got pumped in the Woolwich match which sealed his sacking. Remember he couldn’t win at PSG with Neymar Messi AND Mbappe either.

I’m a huge fan of Poch but his last success was nearly 8 years ago. A LOT has changed in football in 8 years, in many ways Pochettino’s style is still a relic of the mid-2010s PL where a ā€œhigh pressā€ and a DM dropping into the back 3 during buildup was some innovation. The league has passed him by tactically and that is very concerning to me.

He showed no tactical innovation and no ability to organize a style of play. He struggled vs low blocks as we all know he does and was clueless against other top managerial talent. I am not enthused.

The only real enduring quality he has is charisma - he will be able to go the board and stand up to them, but when he’s let down in the market as per usual, I could see things getting very toxic… and when things do go bad, seeing the fanbase turn on him will be dark.
