I thought that was Thomas Frank with a haircut, but then I saw the Tottenham Hotspur mug.
But it is his style of play... If he is defensive, that is going to go down like a lead balloon.
Frank would be a good manager for certain clubs, that traditionally play a certain way, that certain way was clearly no us. I would rather not have the same mistake repeated again.
That can’t work on a permanent basis, but our task is simply survival at this point. Without any ability to score goals or any goal scorers, I don’t see how we stay up without getting defensive and grinding out draws.
So we need an interim manager, just to keep us then see what happen.
I think they are looking at Poch, personally.
But who the feck knows what is going to happen.

Fucken 'ell if we go from boring boring Frank to monotonously boring Southgate I think I will cut a length of rope and look for the nearest tree. Rather give an 80 yr old Harry Redknapp the gig over Southgate.
We need a man manager with some tactical nous in for the remainder of the season, then a new manager in the summer when more options are on the table.
Personally I would fire a fortune at someone like Klopp/Alonso for the interim, it will be cheap compared to relegation, presuming it's likely neither fancy the gig long term.
I think the clowns on the board are now terrified of another stupid error and will see Poch as the easy summer option, if so then get him now, compensate the usa team and let's not waste anymore time at this 25yr rebuild.

I’m not sure what people are expecting the club to do in terms of this appointment. There’s an extremely limited pool of top managers available and De Zerbi is probably the best one we can get.

There are literally no good interim options. And even if we do hire an interim, there’s no guarantee Poch joins us. What happens if after the World Cup Real Madrid or United make him a dizzying offer? He could tell us to get stuffed and we’d have risked an interim for no reason. Yes there’s better options available in the summer but how much better will they be than De Zerbi? I can’t see us attracting the likes of Tuchel

I'm not expert on him, but from what I've seen I'd say very well organised defensively, but not defensive per se

Like I say, came up under de Zerbi and took a lot from him, and he's hardly defensive
Yeah this is definitely an issue. I think even middling/poor options like Mason, Igor Tudor, Heitinga would do better than Frank but there aren't any genuinely good options on the market. Carrick was the only strong one and we were too slow there.
Interesting the press and rumblings around De Zerbi, and the fact we sacked Frank pretty much on the day he became available again. One journo said we considered him last summer and in November while Paul O' Keefe saying he's the one we're considering.
I was a big fan of him at Brighton - he massively improved them mid-season and played some fantastic football, often with fairly limited players. Solly March suddenly turned into an absolute world-beater out of nowhere.
Man's a bellend and I don't think he'd unite the club - would probably all blow up again within 2 years - but beggars can't be choosers and getting a shitty interim so we can get Poch in the summer could mean relegation and no Poch anyway.
I think of all the options we can get right now De Zerbi would be, by far, the most exciting and make me feel best about our chances of survival. It's more what comes after that which concerns me.
Poch 100% won't be allowed to leave the usa with the world cup coming up.... So I'm thinking they're looking at Southgate.. big plus for them is he's available and no buy out needed ect ect .. And he's experienced with top level footballers... Do I think he's a good fit? ...he's a fucking anorak!!! With the visual personality of an office bound 1970's civil servant..... ... Walking in the dressing room in his gear ... Big NO NO ...100% Get a fucking stylist onto him straight away!!! seriously, though maybe just maybe he could do a job .
Exactly. And let’s be honest maybe a hot head is what these players need. And he didn’t blow up at Brighton from what I remember, he just left at the end of his contract didn’t he? But even if he does blow up at some point, any manager we hire is a risk. Look at safe hands pacifist Frank we just sacked, only lasted 8 months and wouldn’t say boo to a goose.
De Zerbi would be an excitement appointment even in the summer for me so to bring him in now in our predicament is a bit of a result.
In an ideal world yes Poch is probably the best option for the club and fan base but we can’t afford to wait and he isn’t guaranteed to be better than De Zerbi. The risk of relegation is simply too great and an interim with our current injury situation could still take us down. We won’t get any second chances if we get the interim wrong.
He definitely got tetchy and started mouthing off about the club's lack of ambition/spending when he felt they didn't have the squad to handle Europe + league commitments. I think he had a point, though. They sold Caiceido and MacAllister for mega money after his first season and didn't really back him in the market before going absolutely massive the summer immediately after he left.
If we stay up I think we'd back De Zerbi in the market far more than Brighton did, although I suspect he'd find something to get pissed off about before too long.
