In one of the many pieces that came out yesterday relating to all of this they touched on this bit.

Basically Vinai and Lange felt that there are far too many issues behind the scenes at Spurs to blame the club's issues solely on the manager. That there is a bunch of restructuring needed to make a modern football organisation out of it.

Which tbh feels like them being both right and wrong at the same time if you ask me. The backstage issues are glaringly obvious. So they are correct there. But it doesn't give them cart blanche to blindly hold on to a manager that clearly isn't up for the job.

Precisely. A chaotic backstage environment is obviously not ideal for a football manager and makes the job harder.
But Frank was not up to the task for the things that a manager in modern football can control.

United are arguably as chaotic behind the scenes as us if not more. But Carrick is so far handling the on pitch part just fine. Same with Moyes at Everton.

I think this is the thing

Yes - our behind the scenes turmoil is less than ideal

but Yes - the manager should still be able to manage the team effectively

Vinai and Lange being losers doesnt change the fact Frank managed the resources at hand terribly

If this is the first real test then they have already failed , we are now in a relegation battle - had they acted quicker and changed the manager months ago and strengthened in January then we could
Be looking at European football next season and not relegation
Or paid big bucks for better players as promised? Any action would have improved things. Worst course in a crisis is inaction.

(I read that in a crisis management post this morning).

No one is expecting to challenge for Trophies right away , as European champions and with all the extra CL money I don’t expect to be in a relegation battle this season!

No one did - the frank appointment was wrong - whoever chose it - it was wrong - but its not like 80% of owners get appointments right anyways - so lets see what their next move is -

Whatever way you look at it, Vinai ignored the evidence and car crash in front of him and doubled down on it and now we face a relegation battle. That is really really poor.

Its also why I dont buy the self preservation line in respect of him being so determined to keep Frank on board

I can understand the logic that Vinai went big on Frank and wants him to work out (to save face) and so wants to give him time

And to a point thats completely reasonable

However, IMO, we are WAY past that point - and we are now staring down the barrel of relegation - which surely has to be worse in terms of Vinais rep

Making decisions is literally his job description. If he doesn’t do that then the DoF might as well talk direct with the owners.

Not arguing, really, its just these corporate structures isnt it?

He's a manager of managers - has various teams under him, sets some agenda, gets feedback, does things by consensus

Not sure he would make any real decisions other than budgets etc...

Agree, so he is indecisive and clueless. Not good is it.

The self preservation thing is more about Lange. He knew his future was tied to Frank. They had a cosy set up, both liked working with each other, Lange went all in on Frank even to the detriment of the clubs future which sickens me. Lange must know his days are numbered now.

Agree. If Vinai lucks out on a great DOF and let's them get on with it, it's actually a good thing to be hands off. But to be too afraid to call the shots when shit hits the fan is a disaster.

Vinai's card is marked for me. FRAUD WATCH.
He’s probably never really seen proper football as he’s from down the road. Long throws? Yep. Silent crowd? Yep. Sideways / backwards thrillers? Yep. Set-piece specialists? Yep. Strikers can’t hit a barn door? Etc…

He just thought it was great football and couldn’t understand the score.

I have to agree with this -

People expecting new - players, managers, owners, humans, to make an immediate impact and 180 things immediately are living in cuckoo land.

absolutely delusion

it doestn mean that the new people, whoever they are, are the right people but fucking hell, Levy has only been gone 6 months and there is an expectation to go from 17th to be challenging for trophies straight away -

and these same folks, dying, praying, wishing for new owners to come buy us - what do they expect are gonna happen - how long since newcastle were bought - they just sold isak and replaced him with a nodbody - their team is hardly full of superstars, their squad depth is shite, they make poor decisions constantly -

this is not Football Manager. Man City are an outlier.

Of course, things are shit right now, of course, things could be much better - but a tiny, tiny bit of perspective is needed sometimes
We’re in a relegation battle mate.
