De Zerbi, Xavi, and Xabi Alonso should be the top three choices. Appoint one of them on a 2.5 or 3.5 year deal and give them the keys to overhaul the squad in the summer.

Was watching James Alcott yesterday, and he was talking about Poch

Noted how he is a "manager" not a "coach", and how he doesnt always get on with the board above him

Said if we do want him back we should set everything up around him, ask him who he wants to work with in recruitment etc, what team around him would excite him etc - and just give him the best environment to make it work

Which, when you think about trying to pair Poch with Lange and Vinai?

Im not sure Im really on board with a manager bringing their own DoF with them 😄 but in our current circumstance it does make alot of sense.

As you mention De Zerbi - I think the same applies. If not more so. He is also known to fall out with this board, particularly around recruitment...

Again, not really sure Im comfortable with it, but we do seem to be in that shit or bust sort of situation...

Or paid big bucks for better players as promised? Any action would have improved things. Worst course in a crisis is inaction.

(I read that in a crisis management post this morning).
I'm glad Frank is gone, however we are still right in a relegation scrap , I can't see us getting anything in the NLD , so we are literally just hoping other clubs are worse however from a multi billion pound football operation I would have expected a better plan of action then just "hope someone else is worse than us" Its like we are just sleep walking to relegation with no one with balls big enough to take charge :frankfacepalm:

Anyone seen the Ange Overlap thing today?

He basically vindicates everything that certain posters (including myself) have been saying on here for the last 10 years. About ENIC saying that they want to compete for the big things but then in reality not backing it with their actions. Not being willing to bring in top players on top wages. He stops short of saying the obvious that they are basically lying to the fans for bums on seats and its a club that wants to present the illusion of ambition. But he says it without saying it. Its actually a very classy interview.

He tells you the kind of players he asked for to kick on after finishing 5th in his first season; Mbeumo, Guehi, Semenyo, Neto(names a couple of other top players) and that instead he was given 3 kids and Solanke.

Whatever you think of Ange and the part he played in finishing 17th. Even if you think he is a cunt its well worth watching.

This is what we are dealing with here. Owners that want to pretend they are in it to win it to justify the prices they are charging but not backing it up.

I've been saying it ages, the club needs to level with their real ambitions. If they want to win the top prizes its obvious that the recruitment needs to reflect that. Or they need to level with the fans that the club has a ceiling of top 4 and the odd domestic club and lower the prices for entry accordingly.

We lost 34 times in the league in 2 seasons under him.

We won't do these numbers again.

He's a massive part of why we are where we are.

I think we've got more chance of getting something from the NLD now (although probably gonorrhea) than we did with Frankenstein.

Remove your bias.

The guy is a good coach, and proved it

He has the confidence, bordering on arrogance and would take no sh!t

I would be more content if we brought Rodgers in than many of the other options being bandied about.

And it's realistic if the guy is interested.

Not sure why you've wet your pants at me posting a humorous Brendanism there

Don't envision them sacking Lange just yet but they certainly need to hire a footballing man he reports to like a Ralf rangnick.
Think that's just as vital. Lange is as out of his depth as Frank was

It’s does feel that way. Knowing yourself is a big thing, you need confidence in life but you need to be realistic. I know I can do my job very well, I have done many roles including managerial but I also know I am not suited to be a CEO or salesman, I don’t have the energy or the ruthless driven instincts.

Lange and Vinai seem like me trying to be a CEO or salesman. They look mismatched for their roles. Lange is a data scout, Vinai is the head of communications. They have the wrong jobs.

So De Zerbi fails upwards from Marseille to Spurs?

Has he failed at Marseille?

Genuine question, dont follow French football closely

4th in the league (CL play off), 3 points of the CL automatic place

Out of the CL which is when it blew up the other week (EDIT, finished 25th, 3 wins 5 loses)

Bad result against PSG - but then its PSG

Beat Renne comfortably before that, and theyre a decent side

From the little I can gather seems like an implosion in terms of relationships than a straight "failure" to me

But - I do stand to be corrected

I'm inclined to agree, as a temp until the end of the season at least. I feel the players need a kick up the backside (they covered 5Km less than Newcastle, jogged less, sprinted less - Spurs only won on time spent walking - BBC stats).

Rodgers is a straight talker with a sharp tongue and doesn't take any shit. Frank came across as a wet blanked that no-one respected.

All we need right now is someone to get us clear of relegation / steady the ship - but only if we then get serious about rebuilding this squad and spending what it takes to get 'wow' players in.

This is a relegation fight for sure. Wet Spam have lost 1 in 5. We haven't won any. I think it will be between us and Forest, whichever club can get the best 'new manager bounce'.
I didn't know this but could have guessed. Fuck me this is basic shit

Seems pretty obvious they will appoint RDZ before the weekend

They are just figuring out how to communicate out to fans who clearly want Poch in the summer and RDZ kills that

For me, it’s not logical to wait for Poch if it means risking relegation on an interim they don’t trust.

100% mate. I am expecting De Zerbi.

If it was me making the decision, my view would be that yes Poch would be a good appointment potentially. But is there any guarantee that Poch does a better job than De Zerbi? There isn't really. De Zerbi is arguably as good, if not a bit more fiery.

So the question then is, is Poch worth risking relegation for? The answer has to be no he isn't. Just imagine the board give the job to Heitinga or Mason or some other inexperienced interim, and we get relegated. I mean, it's a literal disaster. The ownership would be fucked. The fanbase would implode the club.

I just can't see how we take that risk. It has to be, appoint the best manager we can now.

Forest have just given the job to Pereira, can you imagine we give the job to someone inexperienced and Forest stay up and we go down.

Agree. Loser's mentality despite all the waffle.

And I maihtain there was no.plan to bin the PL. It was convenient to say so, and so many on here fell for it then and still do so now.

Any dimwit could cite some aspects of ENIC's ways and highlight an incoherence, but the club do spend money. They just have the wrong people overseeing matters, and keep getting the managerial appointment wrong
