We conceded 29 goals in the last 16 league games. That's nearly half a season of conceding like relegation fodders.

29 / 16 = 1.81
1.81 x 38 = 68.78

We conceded at least 2 in 12 of those 16 games. No wonder we're not winning any games; very few teams in the league are capable of scoring 3+ on a regular basis to overcome such leaky defense.

New manager will have his work cut out with this; as I don't see any immediate turnaround on the horizon with a backline featuring players like Dragusin and a wantaway Vicario.

Make no mistake, we’re completely reliant on other sides at this point, and by that I mean West Ham and possibly more importantly Forest.

We are completely rudderless and I think if West Ham had held on and Forest beaten Wolves then we would be getting relegated.

However, I just think we will outdo Forest at this point - they fucked up sacking Dyche. Strap yourselves in though as the stress will be through the roof for the final 12

From this list, who do you see us score 3 against?

Because that's what it might come down to for us to get a win, and we'll need a few of them. A bunch of 2-2 draws, that we were also getting under Frank, alone won't suffice.

I still contend that this will be decided more by how others will do than by how we will do.

I think we can concede less to Forest and maybe win 2-1. I think Leeds could be safe by the time we play them and we again could get a 2-1. I can see us getting draws with Brighton, Palace and Everton. If we could nick an away point then that might just do it.

My worry with these next 4 games though is if we only take 1 point or less, which is a distinct possibility then we are going to be incredibly low on confidence and possibly in 18th - I would then worry about our mentality

After a couple of days of respite with the sacking and some decent results Wednesday i'm left thinking we really are in the shite. No fit players, no manager and those utter dorks Vinai and Lange leading the search. They get this wrong, which they probably will, we're stuffed. Any more injuries we're stuffed. We need a lot to go right.

I wouldn't count on Vinai and Lange leading the search tbf. It feels like Nick have taken control for the time being based on some of the reports around the sacking.

I agree, the last set of results were positive for us but we are far from out of the woods. We have no idea what is coming and zero trust in the decision makers.

Excellent point re injuries - we will get more - and theres nothing left in reserve - you can bet Frank,s forecast return dates for the already injured were woefully optimistic. I fear that will do for us ultimately.

Brighton are also potentially in trouble, they look awful

My biggest concern is that the margin for error has gotten much smaller as we kept wasting precious games to get points/wins from.

We need at least 10-12 points from the remaining 12 games to not be completely reliant on West Ham and Forest not closing the gap.

Point a game doesn't sound like a big ask until you realize that 4 of those 12 will be against:

Woolwich
Villa (A)
Liverpool (A)
Chelsea (A)

Now think of the horrifying defensive trends I've outlined above regarding us regularly conceding 2 a game, even from the likes of Burnley and West Ham.

Any of these 4 can comfortably score 2+ against us on a given day. What would we be getting from those 4 games then?

Suddenly, we might find ourselves in a situation where we have to get the said 10-12 points from 8 games instead.

Now, realistically, I wouldn't expect us to concede 2+ against every single one of:

Fulham (A)
Palace
Forest
Sunderland (A)
Brighton
Wolves (A)
Leeds
Everton

But then, there would still be the risk of some of those games ending 0-0, 1-1 or even 0-1; as floodgates won't suddenly open just because Frank is gone.

We're in this mess despite scoring 36 goals in 26 games, and scoring at least once in 21 of them. How much can we realistically expect to improve in goal scoring department in such a short time?

I can't escape the conclusion that we're still in trouble, regardless of how I look at it.

Gray is needed to plug other gaps and Simons is going to have to play on the left.
We still have Sarr, Palhinha, Gallagher and Bissouma available in midfield though.
If the next manager is someone that can organize things it should be enough to get us safe?

The nightmare scenario is we need something at Stamford Bridge second to last game of the season...

Those cunts will be wanking themselves silly

Yeah and I think Moyes last game would love to stick the knife in as well, especially if it helps West Ham.

At the moment it is very difficult to see where a win is coming from - now hopefully, some of that is just a dour perspective because we have been shit for ages. But not beating Burnley or West Ham and in fact only taking 1 point from those games means we cannot be confident against anyone, especially as Wolves are our bogey side.

I think our best chance is securing enough draws and hoping one of Brighton or Forest sink without trace. I’m very confident West Ham stay up at this point.

I’m more convinced than ever that we go down. An interim with no permanent clause for a man who’s never managed a game in England. An utter shambles.
