I live too far away to be a season ticket holder, but, i think that all the time the fans give their money to ENIC, ENIC gets paid and they don't care about the football, unless the football hits them in the pocket, which it's close to doing now. Big gambles taken on their part, but no real care for the fans, it's just self-interest.

I think fans should hit them in the pocket to break the cycle of them taking the fans for granted and maybe realising that there is a football club somewhere buried in amongst their business.

I’ve arrived at this point now. It took me a while though and in the past I’ve cited how Spurs were part of my life, I enjoy seeing old mates at WHL, why should I let Levy/ENIC force me out as a legacy fan etc.

To be quite frank, life is too short for this nonsense. I won’t be renewing and should’ve walked away after Bilbao. It’s only a game - there are far more important things in life than a football club. Yes, the owners at Spurs are running the football team into the ground and have prioritised their ‘leisure empire’ at the teams expense. But what we can we do? They won’t sell up, so instead of letting it eat me up, I’ll go and watch some non-league football and do other things.

Of course they would.
All bookies just care about is reacting to bets placed so no matter what the outcome they win.
All that is happening for spurs odds to be 6/1 is more money is being put on to that outcome probably by miserable Spurs fans, than the roughly 25/1 chance that Opta thinks of Spurs chances of being relegated.

This is the Opta AI-assisted prediction model linked numerous times here

Gambling markets move based on vibes and feels and are prone to manipulation by whales so I don’t consider those.
I’ve been working at the sharp end of betting for 23 years, so appreciate the lessons.

There is no manipulation on a relegation market because nobody has any inside knowledge of the outcome. It’s not a horse race with a dodgy jockey or a next manager market. Yes weight of money has a factor but bookies are generally happy to take money from punters but will protect their prices from smarts. That’s why they never shut down accounts from the former.
If you both had a knack for gambling and genuinely believed in a couple of eggheads from Opta churning out those percentages, then you’d be well advised to go on Betfair and have a few quid on West Ham at 1.89 and lay Spurs at 6.00. They are value bets based on the Opta stats - West Ham especially.
More so, you should think about coming up with a very simple system of placing value bets when there are large discrepancies between the market and Opta. Over a decent sample size, it should work. Only one snag of course, it won’t work…

I really do wish you were both correct and we were genuinely < 5% to go down. But just use your own common sense here. We’re currently the worst team in the league and finished 17th last year. Do you really think we only go down once in 19 times from this scenario, or is it closer to the 1 in 5 that the market has us.

The reason I said we're not going down is because I refuse to accept this great football club to go down in this fashion. It's unacceptable and I cannot imagine it happening.

But that's the story of this club innit? Always coming short. We deserve so much more than this it truly breaks my heart and I feel sad for every one of us.

theres the skill issue where the players genuinely aren’t good enough for PL football. Overpaid youngsters and bought on hype (though oddly not good enough for any of the big clubs to go after them) so 2nd rate hype players

But also you have teams like Nottingham Forest and West Ham that have been in relegation battles before and a better team unity and so know what has to be done.

We’re going down. Wheres the ENIC plan trusters now? “We’re doing a Leeds”

There is something symbolic about the whole scenario.

I would suggest that Levy's 'golden period', as THFC chairman, when the Levy lover boys latched on to the leech, was when he exploited the financial weakness of clubs like West Ham, (Kanoute, Defoe, Carrick, Parker), Leeds United, ( Keane, Robinson, Lennon, and Nottingham Forest, ( Dawson, Reid) to the absolute max.

Levy took the best players from these clubs, at bargain prices, some on subsidised wages, and benefitted massively, in a financial sense, from the exploitative manner of what he did to those clubs.

These are now the clubs Spurs are directly competing with to stay in the Premier League.

One of these clubs is also managed by a manager who Daniel Levy treated very shabbily to save his own skin. :nunothumb:

What goes around comes around in life and football.

All those who endoresd Levy's methods at that time, which also involved heavily exploiting the loyalty of THFC supporters, would do well to consider the misery that was heaped on to those clubs and their supporters.

The clues were always there that Levy had no interest in football and only cared about the money.

Levy's legacy to Spurs will be this relegation battle and this terrible squad of bang average and terrible players.

I don't see how we stay up.

Look at our form. Performances. Results. Injuries.

Nothing points to us staying up. Nothing but blind faith.

For example, who genuinely thinks we go to Fulham and win on Sunday? Nobody.

Who thinks we beat Palace? We haven't won twice at home all season. I could easily see Palace doing a West Ham to us.

If we lose both of them, we are down. Even a draw does nothing for us.

I also think we should absolutely throw the CL. Play the kids.

We cannot afford any injuries and we do not need the extra games. Everything should be focused on PL survival.

Fuck Europe.

We'll know in the next 4 games. We need a performance at least at Fulham and then Palace and Forest either side of Liverpool away which we can write off. We need minimum 5 pts or we're fucked. Just cant see it though. This team doesnt look capable of anything else than bagging a draw or two.

How long have you been supporting Spurs mate?

This is comfortably the worst Spurs team I have ever seen in the last 49 seasons.

For context; during the relegation battles in the 90's the team's involved contained players such as; Sheringham, Barmby, Anderton, Carr, (S)cumbell, Klinsmann, Ferdinand and Ginola.

This team is absolute gash.

Those defending these players need to give their heads a wobble.

Worst i've seen in a similar timeframe. This is so much worse than the 90s, yet the penny still hasnt dropped for many.

Lose both and may as well start prepping for life in the Championship...dropping big names and playing Austin + academy kids til the end, start looking at the next manager + transfers etc.

Forest have the most difficult fixtures, not seeing much more than 10 pts for them. Beat them at home and we might just scrape through.

If we had a semi-decent team I can see 8 winnable games there. Unfortunately we don’t have a semi decent team.

It's said that you're only as good as your last game(s) and with our awful form and being completely outclassed by Woolwich, it hurts. So I completely understand why so many of us are expected the worst, particularly when the media keep stoking up the possibility for clicks.

But even with all that, I'm not that worried yet about relegation, our fixture list looks a lot better than West Ham or Forest, we have an interim manager with a good record taking over clubs in a mess and our recent form has been against some of the hardest teams in the league.

Yes we are in a mess and we have the worst available squad in my memory. But we need to just get through this supporting the team as much as we can while trying to not let negativity drag us down. That's my main concern, that a negative atmosphere could make things toxic for our run in and be the final nail in our coffin. But I won't worry about that for at least 4 games.

The fact that we are even in this position is damning on the club, but I won't focus on that until we are safe.
