Player João Palhinha

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Aside from being a brilliant tackler, there is the awareness of when to make the challenge. He can face up to an onrushing forward and pick the right moment to completely block the man and mostly get the ball. He reminds me of Graham Roberts in that respect. I think we can sell Dragusin and let Davies go to Swansea and have this guy as a back up Centre Half.
He doesn't make the idiotic decisions that Romero sometimes does, he's clearheaded and an absolute competitor

The crazy thing is Palhinha hasn't improved or done anything different since signing him.

Classic case of the manager actually putting him in a position to succeed vs trying to force a player into his ideas

Great player...terrible moustache.

Does a tackle or 2 every game that makes everyone forget how he’s doing almost nothing else

Senior player on top wages needs to do more, especially in big games

He isn’t a RCB. He is a decent DM long as you play someone who is more comfortable on the ball next to him. Palhinha isn’t a RCB, Gray isn’t a RWB, Spence isn’t a LWB. Our injuries are leading to multiple players playing out of position.

Vicario
Romero Danso VDV
Porro Palhinha Bergvall Udogie
Gallagher Xavi
Solanke

The next month or so we should be able to field the above which is a much better use of Palhinha and everyone else.

Not sure I want to see Palinha ever play CM for us again. The scars from those Bentancur/Palinha double pivots under Frank are still open.

Genuinely don’t think he’s had a good game for us in CM. I do think he’s had a couple of decent games at CB

Palhinha/Bentancur is bad I admit but when Palhinha has played with other CM’s it’s been fine. Palhinha/Bergvall I think is a very balanced 2.

Thing is he's both available and committed while the other frauds stroll about aimlessly ignoring whichever poor mug is in the dugout, which makes him pretty much better than our other options.

Says it all when our Loanee has shown more passion to wear this shirt.
Then you have mostly the rest that couldn't care less about the clubs predicament.
They all mostly have their eye on their payslip and next move.

So credit to Palhinha really.

I wouldn't say making a few tackles, which are a direct consequence of his other limitations, show "passion". Another who is miles off, but has pulled the wool over some eyes.

Posting this after yesterday's horror show is a bit odd as well.

I agree.

The standards are just so low now, and hes one of the players that hasn't been here as long as the others but at least he has popped up with the odd goal. You cant say the same about the likes of some others.

At this stage there's just too many to point fingers at. None of that midfield crop are good enough. The two young lads could be, but that remains to be seen.

Only fingers pointed should be going to that Lange idiot.
