Management Preparing for the Championship - What will our squad look like?

I've touched on this in other threads but I think it's time we had a dedicated thread to think about how the team will look next season if we're relegated and the things we can realistically hope for.

Step one for anything (whether we stay up or not) is the sacking of Lange and Vinai.

Relegation will obviously mean no Pochettino and the manager will have to be someone completely different. I'll leave that up to the new CEO and DoF but feel free to make suggestions for Championship level managers.

Established first teamers on super high wages like Romero, VDV, Kudus, Solanke, Maddison, Simons, Bentancur, Vicario and Porro will be gone. We might be able to keep younger prospects who would benefit from a season in the Championship like Gray and Bergvall. It would also be a chance for players like Moore, Scarlett, Wilson, Lankshear, Souza and Vuskovic to step up. I'm also hopeful that we would be able to hang on to Pape Matar Sarr.

I would be inclined to extend Ben Davies's contract again and name him as club captain. He would add experience to the squad and would effectively become the bedrock of our defence.

The first thing we should look for in the summer transfer window is a goalkeeper because Kinsky and Austin won't be good enough for 1st choice.

What are your thoughts on this?

The young guys would be the core but they would need some battle hardened old heads with them in the trenches.

Van de Ven, Gallagher, Kulusevski, Ben Davies, Solanke, Maddison all stay. Pretty much everyone else of the senior pros is out the door.
Gray, Bergvall, Devine, Scarlett, Donley, Moore, Vuskovic, Phillips, Lankshear all play serious minutes.
We buy a goalie, 2 full backs proven in the Championship, a veteran central midfielder and a winger with goals in him.

Austin, another player with zero ambition, just happy to be back up and pick up easy money

Does not want to play and have some memories to look back on?

Sums up the mentality of the club

You're doing too much speaking relegation into existence.

I know people are just coping but can we calm down a little please?

Keeping Davies another season would be good and as for the youngsters I wish some of them were available now as I'm sure they would do better than some of the current squad. There would likely be an exodus if we are relegated but these youngsters would be a solid foundation as our club rebuilds. If we are not relegated I hope they are given a fair chance with the first team next season. COYS!!!!!!!!

Van De Ven will do a Defoe to West Ham have the written transfer request in his sock and hand it to the manager at the final whistle. If you think he'll play for us in the Championship you need your bumps felt.

I think something like the below. We will keep alot but Romero, VDV, Udogie, Porro, Vacario, Dragusin, Richarlison, Palhinha, Muani will be gone probably. Tha will raise around £200m, we will probably spend £50-100m to fill gaps and that will be that. Club will beg Pochettino to take the reign’s, if he does fine, of not it will be be some random who we will sack in 12 months when we fail to come back up.

Clubs entirely strategy will be to hope Poch agrees to take the job on.

Kinsky
Spence
Vuskovic
Danso
Byfield
Philips
Dorrington
Souza
Bergvall
Gray
Sarr
Bentancur
Moore
Maddison
Kulusevski
Gallagher
Xavi
Odobert
Kudus
Williams-Barnett
Tel
Solanke
Scarlett

I think we would want more experience in goal and in the middle of defence, unfortunately Alfie Dorrington will probably not make it with us. If not Ben Davies the somebody with that kind of profile.

I am trying to imagine how Xavi Simons would look in the Championship.

My guess is that everyone from our best 11 if everyone were healthy will be gone. It will be a near total rinse out.

There's a real danger that we don't achieve promotion in the first season because of those upstairs always overestimating the quality in the squad. They will raise some money from sales to keep their nest feathered but will only spend a part of it.

We will try to rely on loan players and those past their prime along with players already here. Those upstairs never seem to think our squad is bad, they think we are only a Kudus or a Gallagher away from where we need to be. But you can't even convince middling PL players to sign for a Championship club, so where'd we be then?

They will feel our squad is good enough to win promotion as is, and will do less than anyone expects, per always.

Replace the manager, one or two underwhelming additions along with average squad players. Offer some small ticket price reductions for the cheapest seats. Tell the support they need to back the team in this critical hour even as the product gets worse.

Apart from Davies, they will 100% all be sold. Maybe Madders if he's still mending will stay a year.
You obviously can't do it but to be honest they could sell the whole first team squad and I wouldn't shed many tears.

I think Gallagher and Kulusevski would be great in the Championship. I reckon Kudus, Romero, Tel, Richi, Simons and Vicario would be first out the door, Muani obviously.

Of the first team, the ones I can see staying are:

Davies (extension)
Austin and/or Kinsky
Odobert
Gray
Sarr
Spence
Maybe Dragusin.

Bergvall, Souza and Tel to be loaned out.

Though honestly I think a lot of our best players will want to leave this summer even if we stay up.

We are really lacking in beloved players.

Maybe the club will convince them to stay another season, and yes they'd tear the league up, but they'll be angling for moves I reckon.

I'd assume it would only be the home grown youngsters who would stay, with perhaps Gray and Kinsky (can't imagine Bergvall would want to stay). Of the seniors, maybe Bentancur and, if no one goes in for him, Spence. Madders and Kulusevski might also stay a season since they're recovering from lengthy injuries and to see what happens,
