We are really lacking in beloved players.

Maybe the club will convince them to stay another season, and yes they'd tear the league up, but they'll be angling for moves I reckon.
Ben is the only player with Tottenham heritage and only Ledley behind the scenes. Nobody else understands what the shirt means. They need to get people like Dawson, Defoe, Dier and Vertonghen back involved in the club.

I've touched on this in other threads but I think it's time we had a dedicated thread to think about how the team will look next season if we're relegated and the things we can realistically hope for.

Step one for anything (whether we stay up or not) is the sacking of Lange and Vinai.

Relegation will obviously mean no Pochettino and the manager will have to be someone completely different. I'll leave that up to the new CEO and DoF but feel free to make suggestions for Championship level managers.

Established first teamers on super high wages like Romero, VDV, Kudus, Solanke, Maddison, Simons, Bentancur, Vicario and Porro will be gone. We might be able to keep younger prospects who would benefit from a season in the Championship like Gray and Bergvall. It would also be a chance for players like Moore, Scarlett, Wilson, Lankshear, Souza and Vuskovic to step up. I'm also hopeful that we would be able to hang on to Pape Matar Sarr.

I would be inclined to extend Ben Davies's contract again and name him as club captain. He would add experience to the squad and would effectively become the bedrock of our defence.

The first thing we should look for in the summer transfer window is a goalkeeper because Kinsky and Austin won't be good enough for 1st choice.

What are your thoughts on this?
WTF have a bit of confidence. 11 matches to go and we have a 4 point lead. The last 7 after the international break should see several of our players back. We were in far worse positions in several of the 90's seasons. Close the thread at this time.

Stupid fcuking thread.

Let's ponder if and God forbid when.

I mean what the fcuk.

This is another consequence and why that useless CEO and Lange should go.

And why if we escape we need to ensure we never return to this dark and murky world of speculative sh!t.

Really, it's impossible for anyone to predict what might happen to us if we go down.

To what could a club like Tottenham Hotspur going down be compared? It's completely uncharted territory. There is no precedent for anything like this in modern football.

The only things you can think of in modern times were Leeds going down after having just been in the CL recently, in the early 2000s. That resulted in their financial collapse.

Citeh of the 90s went down twice... they were not the club they are today, and the game was not the game of today, but they ended up in the third tier.

Would we spring right back up with our resources, or would there be a catastrophe? I don't think anyone could say.

No one is going to pay money for - and pay high wages for:

Tel, Odobert, Gray or Solanke..

If we sell our better players, ;
Vdv . Porro Kulu, Simons, Bergvall, Kudus - we will have nothing.

Romero, Richarlison Spence and Sarr - would be sensible and possible

We had a 15 point lead over West Ham at the start of last month. We are dead last in the form table. We are in it, make no mistake.

I think something like the below. We will keep alot but Romero, VDV, Udogie, Porro, Vacario, Dragusin, Richarlison, Palhinha, Muani will be gone probably. Tha will raise around £200m, we will probably spend £50-100m to fill gaps and that will be that. Club will beg Pochettino to take the reign’s, if he does fine, of not it will be be some random who we will sack in 12 months when we fail to come back up.

Clubs entirely strategy will be to hope Poch agrees to take the job on.

Kinsky
Spence
Vuskovic
Danso
Byfield
Philips
Dorrington
Souza
Bergvall
Gray
Sarr
Bentancur
Moore
Maddison
Kulusevski
Gallagher
Xavi
Odobert
Kudus
Williams-Barnett
Tel
Solanke
Scarlett
I think Xavi, Spence, and Tel would walk

There's too much melting going on..of course we're not going down...this thread is a monstrosity..

You're doing too much speaking relegation into existence.

I know people are just coping but can we calm down a little please?
I think the team, the board, the recruitment team and Thomas Frank have all done a great job of that. We wouldn't be in this situation if it wasn't for their combined complacency and incompetence.

And quite frankly, I'm not the one who is panicking here. Discussion about the ramifications of relegation is just my way of moving forward. I've seen relegation battles before and everything that lifted the teams and got them going again is missing from this situation. This is the earlier post I wrote about the 97/98 season:

I think you'll find it was 97/98. 96/97 was defined by a huge injury crisis where we were actually playing players from the youth team. It was testament to Gerry Francis's defensive organisation that we finished 10th. Our top scorer was Sheringham with 8 goals and our best performers over the season were Stephen Carr, Sol Campbell and Andy Sinton.

Klinsmann made his return in 97/98 in a 1-1 draw with Woolwich right off the back of a 4-1 defeat at Villa Park. It was notable wins against Barnsley, Everton, Blackburn Rovers, Crystal Palace, Wimbledon, Bolton, West Ham and Newcastle that kept us up. We managed two draws against Woolwich in a season where they did the league and cup double and we lost 6-1 at home to Chelsea. It was also key that our managerial change happened in November rather than February.

My concern with this season is that none of the things that build momentum in a relegation scrap are happening. We haven't signed players to strengthen the squad, there is no marquee signing to lift morale, we're losing the matches we should be winning, we've been humiliated by our North London rivals and the only positive we have is a very late manager change with no time to make any significant impact on the team. It doesn't look good.

Why don't we wait until it actually happens first?

The young guys would be the core but they would need some battle hardened old heads with them in the trenches.

Van de Ven, Gallagher, Kulusevski, Ben Davies, Solanke, Maddison all stay. Pretty much everyone else of the senior pros is out the door.
Gray, Bergvall, Devine, Scarlett, Donley, Moore, Vuskovic, Phillips, Lankshear all play serious minutes.
We buy a goalie, 2 full backs proven in the Championship, a veteran central midfielder and a winger with goals in him.

Agreed

I also think Poch would love to take the job
