Management Johan Lange - Technical Director

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

You'd think Lange's reputation would become so damaged after relegation that he wouldnt get a top tier job again.

The incompetence is unbelievably bad that you would assume he is an inside agent working for Woolwich.

When you hire an ex Villa DOF that thinks hes working at Brighton and Brentford in terms of resources, this is what you get.

Lange is a disgrace.

He is a data scout who thought he was a DoF. DoF you need to have a more holistic vision of the team, you need to be able to sell a vision to prospective players, it’s the building and culture of the club. From what I have heard he sounds like a spreadsheet man, thinks the team will work if our next CM has 0.00034 extra passing per 100. He is seems like a guy whose ego over promoted himself.

The man is just ridiculous in his approach.

The eye test validates more in a player than just looking at any data ever will.

So much more encompass players abilities than simply just data.

Its clear Lange has not got a clue.

The "good" news, which must surely be sinking in at Hotspur Way, is that the most shocking relegation in the history of the Premier League will be a permanent black mark against every single person involved.

Not a one of them would live this down.
If the shocking does come to fruition, I hope for the worst for most of our players careers.

They dont deserve to leave with a move, in the case they relegate this club.

Totally Agree

The data approach should be used to guide scouting not replace it.

The fact is he has no vision like a proper DOF who knows how he wants to build the project including the style of play then signing players and managers that fit that style.

That is why Brighton and Brentford work and we are a total circus. Even Paratici gets this wrong because his view of how he wants to play is so different to the fan bases.

Lange should have gone sfter his first 3 windows let alone made it to Jan.

On top of that you have the Lewis Family that have never given two shits about Spurs.

There's some truth to this yeah.

You could argue a large part of the downturn in performances on arrival here indicates a poor selection of mentality form the likes of Lange, or that he/they in are responsible for the coaching staff that have ruined these players.

They're responsible for the medical set-up that cripples these players, they're responsible for signing players that don't suit the managers at all, Dragusin for Ange's high line? Danso for any type of footballing venture?

Regarding players leaving and winning stuff, that's overblown, much was made of it as yet another way to banter Spurs and our trophy drought. Emerson Royal went back to Brazil and won a trophy, after a pit stop in Milan, Toby won something in Belgium, Lucas Moura maybe won a cup in Brazil? These players aren't leaving and then suddenly doing great things, they're going to lesser leagues and winning the odd cup.

Only Harry Kane has left the club and definitively gone on to bigger things, and it's arguable that even that so far has come in a massively weaker league (see us comfortably handling their second place side who have lost only 2 in the league all season), so has his level really increased on leaving?
You can go back quite a few years and it's always been the same. Kyle Walker, Christian Eriksen, Berbatov, Carrick, Keane, Teddy Sheringham, Bale, Modric, Dier and there's a dozen lesser-known players who, yes, went to arguarbly lesser leagues.

I guess my point is that if this club had genuine ambition, over 25 years, it would have brought in world class players, keeping our better players content that they had a chance to win something, but in reality, we sell all of our best players and we don't buy many top quality players who are in their prime.

What may be affordable isn't done by choice, and that lack of ambition is going to see us in the Championship, sadly.

"Failing up" seems to exemplify this man's career.

Money ball was the worst thing to happen to sport. The movie that is.

There is a place for analytics but it’s not corporate structures. Analytics needs to inform the human decisions not be the only part of the decision

I think it's a more recent thing, we haven't really sold our good players since Bale, we've generally held on to them to beyond the point of them having any real value.

Everyone we've sold since then has been sold on our terms, and generally that's been because they're shit. They haven't left and then picked up form again, they've just gone to piss poor leagues where they've won easy pots.

Kane is the exception, but we arguably held onto him years longer than we had any "right" to, and back to the original point again, it's difficult to say if his performance level has actually gone up. He was doing all that stuff to great effect for us too, he just didn't get as much credit for us.

So essentially what I'm saying is, we don't just temporarily ruin players, we destroy them permanently!

Lange and the CEO will be sacked regardless of how this season ends.

No doubt at all.

Both are utter garbage, and they kept on a drowning captain and now may oversee the sinking of the ship he was sailing.

Fcuking lamentable.

He looks like fungus the damn bogeyman...
