Yayyyyyyyyyyy another DOF to add to the list of bums.
You could look at his time at Palace and say that he's the DOF that oversaw them rising to their peak, and winning the FA Cup which is a pretty impressive achievement for them, recruiting players we'd have loved to get here (Guehi, Wharton, Olise, Eze (booooo!)).

On the flipside, I'm not 100% certain his time overlapped with all of those signings, and even if it did then it's still not any guarantee that he's particularly responsible. We could bring him here and find that the secret to that success was just a decent scout in his team.

Either way, he can't be as useless as this twerp:

It’s levels even if Freeman is average then he is still levels above Lange. You don’t need to be Rangnick DoF level to significantly improve on Lange.

Even his one supposed strength is massively overstated. Data nerd to pick out young players, I'm sorry but that might have been useful 15 years ago or whatever, but in 2026 there are countless nerds on youtube filling you in on all of the promising young footballers across the globe.

I could fire up Football Manager and give you a pretty spot on list of the top 50 kids in the world.

The art would be in identifying which would fit in and kick-on in your environment, who can you bed in properly and provide a pathway to first team football whilst remaining a competitive outfit, you aren't going to get that from an Excel spreadsheet.

Frankly also, anyone that isn't a soul-destroying energy vampire will be a one up on him. You think any of the players have any respect for Lange or Vinai? If they did we wouldn't be seeing half the tripe on the pitch that we are now, none of them give a flying shit about this pair of goobs being disappointed in them.

Can't be fucked to get excited by whoever comes in under this board, we could bring in Campos and Enrique and we'd still find some way to fuck things up.

I always enjoy the list of great signings made by a DoF. Never see the list of absolute duds though.

Don't worry, it's:

- If good signing, it's credit to the manager or DoF or "the new owners"
- If bad signing, it's Levy's fault
- If bad signing after Levy left, it's Levy's dynasty
- If bad signing in year 2050, it's because of that 18/19 season, and still Levy's dynasty

Also, don't forget:
- If signed in current window, and seen as a good signing, but turns out to be bad, it can still retrospectively be the worst signing and completely obvious it was at the time, even though it wasn't. But it obviously was.

Obviously what the Lewis Family should do is sell the club, full stop.

Failing that though, my advice to them would be to have the director of football report directly to ownership, and to have the club's business affairs in a separate reporting structure.

Having a non-football CEO overseeing the football operations is a bad idea in general and a particularly bad idea given the problems Spurs are trying to correct.

Is Rangnick available?
100 percent, it should be him
Ah the concept of Ralf Rangnick, hipster catnip is back.

I think he is the one. Newcastle were looking at him at one stage. Palace fans rate him and so do others in the game.

If he is coming in though I think it would be as the main man. He aint coming in to job share with Lange.

IIRC man utd were after him at one point also. Can't remember the details but he's been floating around Dan Ashworth hype style, for a few years

What appeals about Freedman is that as someone who played in the Premier League and managed at large English clubs, he profiles as someone who could bring some bigger-picture leadership to the football operation as a whole, and critically have the ability to speak publicly on that.

He does have a list of names on a spreadsheet that were smart signings in a different club under different circumstances, as everyone in the frame for these positions always does, but he's not JUST that.

At the end of the day we need to win games and there is no substitute for that. But a proper football person with some public authority and accountability for the bigger picture squad construction and competitive mission, above and responsible for the manager, would make the narrative of Spurs somewhat less psychotic, and that would be helpful.

Doing well at a small South London club is very different to the massive task he would have here

He could be the DoF version of Thomas Frank
