He explicitly came out and said they sacked off the league to win the Europa? Personally I think that was just him rewriting history to cover for his inability to perform for shit in the Premier League but he definitely came out and said it.

What do you think losing every fucking week does to the mentality of players?

If anyone is living in a fantasy it's those in our fanbase that give Ange a pass for historically poor results simply because he said mate a lot and talked like someone down the pub.
The sort of bloke who would push the glass at a seance.

What he did was choose to concentrate on winning the cup over the league. He did this by picking stronger teams in the cup than he did in the league. And that’s a matter of record. Well, actually, it’s a matter of opinion. Someone may feel that Drag and Gray at the back is stronger than Romero and VdV, but generally, the weaker side thing is factual.

What he didn’t do, at any point I’m aware of, because it would be fucking batshit mental, is stand in front of the players and say it was fine to lose.

What would you have done in his shoes? Played the first choices and had them injured again? Ended up 14th and no trophy?

I don’t suppose losing every week does the players any good, on that I agree. However, I feel you are putting far too much on this “losing mentality” thing. Football throughout the years has been rammed full of performing sides who fall away, or shite sides that turn it around. Where are those mentalities then?

Why are we suffering from our league losing mentality and not our cup winning mentality? Truly down to Ange?

Of course it isn’t. Our players are weak minded. They are lazy. They can’t be counted on. To get a 5th place finish and win a European trophy looks more like a miracle every day.

The sort of bloke who would push the glass at a seance.

Haha. I did that once at a 'ghost haunt'.

The guy doing it was like a Temu derek acorah. At one point he claimed I was a ghost because I was wearing a white hoody and was stood the other side of the room in a corner.
We did the seance and he said it was important every was only touching the glass and not hard enough to be able to move it, with some BS about the psychic energy wouldn't have enough force if someone was "pressing it hard enough to feel someone moving it". About 6 of us and him had our finger on it

Anyway, the glass kept coming towards me so I was subtly pushing it off the other way. After about 30 seconds he declared someone was pushing it intentionally and I asked how he could tell if we weren't supposed to push hard enough to feel that

Says more about how mentally fragile our players are if they need to be taught to win and compete in matches.

None of the Utd players got the memo this season either, seemingly they managed to forget the habit of losing matches this season...

Claiming they binned off the league is in fact Ange (and his fanboys) trying to rewrite history. We were shit all season before that, no matter who was available.

(And I can't imagine how an attitude among the players that the league means fuck all could have gripped the squad this year. It's a big mystery)

But even if it were true that Ange behaved tactically for the first time in his life in order to win Europa - which final was won in spite of him more than anything - that theory still cuts both ways. You can't say Ange turned around a losing culture when he lost more than anyone ever has last year. You can't claim he changed the losing culture when you simultaneously claim he was losing most of the time on purpose. You can't claim Frank was worse when we were 1ppg last year and we are 1 ppg this year.

Who's to say Frank couldn't have won Europa this year? Perhaps he only had the misfortune of being in the CL. Ange got to sleepwalk through a historically weak tournament, and we are somehow still alive in the CL. History could be flipped.

History is there in black and white.

24/25.
First 19 games. 11th place. Nowhere near the relegation zone.
First 12 games. 6th place. Not exactly relegation form is it??

I mention 12 games as that’s when we lost Vicario.

Who played on in that match with a fractured ankle.
Which tells you something not only about his own mentality but also his dedication to his team and manager.

Forster and then Kinsky were not at the same level as him as a GK. I know he’s not rated on here but personally think he’s a very good shot. stopper.

But the 1st Jan 2025 we were not a relegation hopeful.
Even in February we won 3 league games on the bounce. Something Frank never achieved.
He did win 2 in a row once I guess. Good for him!!

And Tudor won’t.

Bring back Big Ange!! The fans demand it!!!!

Frank was 2-0 up in a final against PSG and managed to throw the match away, that's the closest he's ever come to winning a trophy and he completely fluffed it lol, no chance he'd ever win the EL.

Clinging on to What-ifs lol. There were way more sliding-door moments before Ange but I don't see those managers being blamed. The agenda is incredible.

No they don't, only brain dead mentalists do.

🤣

Only the thick ones.

A manager who actually did brilliant things with us is right there.

Big Mauricio.

If we wanted a manager to see us to safety in the league then Sherwood’s win % in the PL shits all over Ange’s. So do most of our precious managers.

Poch is busy in the USA right now. He’s not coming back in our hour of need.

And if you think Tim Sherwood is the answer to the question then I can only hope that question never gets asked.

I wouldn’t worry too much though.
Our board are next level football stupid and lack any balls.
They are going to sink this ship and take us all down with it.

This cracks me up! Many of those who hated Ange actually aligned with the Hierarchy of the club in the decision making.

In fact, for many years, thought ( many others too ) that those in power take the thoughts and opinions of the fanbase onboard WAY more than they should.

This creates an unusual circumstance of what I would best identify as a inverted cycle / reciprocal reinforcement loop / spiral. It is in part to the reason we find the title "spursy" and absolutely reason to why we NEED new ownership or direction at our core.

We however as supporters / fans have a huge part in this, and at this point to say otherwise is pure negligance.

This is the reason you (potentially from what I read) and many on here get so frustrated. You see my stubbornness and support for Ange as "loony" when in actual the hate and despise for him was in part created the set of circumstances we now find ourselves in.

We NEED real footballing people in charge at this club, not less. Ange was undoubtedly one of them. Perfect? Maybe not... But was he the best we had at the time and realistically is right now?

You know what I believe.

Too many people like you in the fanbase afaiac and the sooner you all fuck off out of the club the better....then you can take your Ange's, Frank's, Jose's, Levy's, Enic's and whoever you might choose to constantly yearn for or berate endlessly in copious amounts and stew in your own shit.

Owners, managers and players come and go but the one constant will always be the fanbase so before we lose sight of who it is we actually support how about we give the pointless tiresome repetitive references to sacked former employees a rest.

I don’t think Sherwood is the answer but he makes as sense as hiring the guy with a 26% win rate and 0% win rate in the league in the last two seasons just because he won some European games.

Tactically Sherwood and Ange are of the same vein anyway. About as sophisticated as each other.

The European cup was won on the back of the players ignoring what Ange wanted and doing their own thing.

Tim Sherwood's last venture as a football manager was to get Aston Villa relegated ffs.
