Leeds fan at work is confident they will stay up. Says they are playing well but DCL has stopped scoring. They're creating chances but haven't scored in the PL since 21st Feb. That will change and they will be out of sight. They still have Wolves and Burnley at home.
Both Wolves and Burnley will be saying to themselves “we still have to play Leeds” and see that as a positive. Leeds are not safe.

No chance we keep them in the Championship. Moore we could keep and start every week. The others absolutely zero percent chance

The best chance we’d have is to loan them out for a season and hope to come straight back up.

Long contracts. It’s our gift not theirs, someone would need to pay up and pay up big time and that is far from certain. Contacts work against like Ndombele when we had to pay everything but they also work for you. Club isn’t a charity, we are under no obligation to do anything that isn’t financially necessary.

No obligation but if you get relegated and force them to stay, it’s asking for trouble with recruitment in the future

He’s a winner, he probably thinks “I could sort that defence out”
Has he won a magic contest?

Seriously though I doubt he would have chosen our club if it was like it is now when he signed up. I read that he signed up in September 2023, so that would have been during the team's purple patch with Postecoglou.

I suppose you're right though, he'll need to look for positives, and the only one is his own ability.

Not sure I agree regarding Bergvall or Gray.

Neither have really demonstrated that they are consistently first choice 11 premier league quality and both seem to have the kind of positive attitude that might make them think they owe us at least one attempt at getting back up after they've been heavily involved in us being relegated.

They're also both on long contracts and we would be asking massive money for them. I'd probably make Gray captain based on recent performances as well.

I don't have a clue about Vuskovic. Everyone is raving about his performances but the Bundesliga isn't the same quality as the PL. Having said that he doesn't have the culpability in the relegation or the history of playing for the club over the past two seasons though so he probably would want out.

I don't think they will have buyers at the very top end of the league. Ones that would really persuade them to not give us at least a season.

As I say, I also think their attitudes are better than some of our other mercenaries and they might feel somewhat culpable and wanting to put things right.

That's my hope at least.

They will probably not at the price we would want though to make it worth it.

Reality is if we shift Vicario, Porro, Romero, VDV, Udogie, Richarlison, Bissouma, Palhinha, Kolo Muani, Bentancur, Dragusin quickly and some are loans or end of contract then that is huge financial gains for the club. At that point with over £100m in the bank and vast amounts of wages off the book the financial pressure is gone then any sale has to be worth the player.

our players apparently have 50% wage cuts in their contract in the event of relegation which we could easily enforce. The carrot would be we won’t force it if you commit to helping us back up. Any player that doesn’t risks losing half their wage if their price is not met.

You and others overrate this "no chance they stay" player-power perspective. Many will be sold because it is in both parties' interests. We will need the cash. I expect Romero, VdV, Vicario, Bentancur, and possibly Solanke, Kudus, Simons and Gallagher to all leave. 50/50 on the last four I've named. They are all PL quality, but also worth quite a bit, and paid quite a bit. But also, might be useful in getting back up.

Gray and Bergvall I see as staying. They aren't earning that much. They would be seen as "the crown jewels" in a Champo situation. Keep them and offload others to make it work. And (speculatively of course), I expect both of them, if Poch comes in, will be fine with that.

Of those you've named, I could see Richarlison and Palhinha possibly being kept. Dragusin also if Romero and VdV leave.

After all that, I guess the overriding feeling is that I want to stay up for these fans that are already planning to go again for the Brighton game.

Best fucking fans in the league.

Didn’t loads of them leave at 2-0 then the ones who remained boo the players at FT ?
