Player Mikey Moore

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I don't have any problem at all with the original point. The way we have failed our own young players is criminal.

Going forwards I think most fans can agree that they’d like Moore, Bergvall, Gray & Vuskovic to be at the core of anything we’re trying to do.

Doesn’t necessarily mean they all start every game but these are the players who actually give fans hope for the future and get bums on seats.

I don't think this is really true - I just think our academy was shit until Paratici came in and changed our approach so that we were actually paying the types of wages required to attract top young talent (maybe the best thing Paratici actually did at the club).

It's taken a few years but we're finally now at the point where that investment is starting to pay off with a decent crop of young players coming through.

I think our choices of loans have sometimes been shockingly shit (Yang to Coventry - wtf?!) but overall the strategy of loaning players to the Champ and Belgian league has been pretty sound. Easy to say 'why didn't we keep them around?!' but no-one could've predicted this apocalyptic injury crisis and the kids need guaranteed minutes to improve.

I think we can only really judge when we see where they all end up. Odds are most of them simply aren't good enough but if we're making some money and bring through some of the better ones like Moore, Vuskovic, Lankshear or whoever, then ultimatley that's what an academy is for.

I agree we need to work on improving our pathways, but when you're aspiring to be a top 4 or top 6 club it's hard to give young players meaningful gametime until they're in their early 20s unless they're really fucking outstanding.

Either way I think the next 2 years or so will be the real measure of whether we're doing well or not with this batch of kids.

This is great.

Really good that he was purposefully looking for a challenging loan at a big club and wants to play under pressure. Says a lot about his mentality and ambition.
Just watched it. Seems a really level-headed guy and that loan seems to have been a great thing for him.

I want him with us and actively contributing next season whatever division were in.

After the real disconnect between the players and fans these last few seasons, players like Mikey will help rebuild a feel-good factor around the club.

OI! I'm holding back the Gooner hordes here. You do realize this is damaging to my argument?

Seriously though, I think my main frustration is Dane Scarlett. I have really enjoyed watching him over the years and it did my head in when he got his chance, scored an important goal, then was back in the freeze box while our strikers misfired over and over again. People say well, the coaches watched him in training, but the last 2 years proves the problem is the coaches not the player.

Our academy was certainly more by luck than judgement if anyone came through until a few years ago and now, hopefully, we're beginning to see the changes that paying attention and investing in our academy can bring.
We just need to ensure what we keep it going now.

Yeah I defo agree there are a few occasions where we fudged it. Maybe shouldve just kept Parrott too.

I also think our strategy of signing teenagers for big money is blocking pathways to some of our kids. Gray, Bergvall, Tel and Odobert dont play in the same positions as the academy kids but any manager is gonna be wary of having too many youngsters in the same side at once.

That's where we've failed. The policy to buy talented youth is a good one, the fail is that we didn't bring in sufficient established quality alongside them.

Tel is already looking like he has plenty to offer after getting a run of games under Tudor. Odobert has been a bit hit and miss, but he's been stymied by injury every time he's looked to put a few games together. Gray is now starting to show his qualities after getting regular games, as did Bergvall before he took was cut down by injuries.

I believe we've invested well in these young players who, I also believe, will be the core of a very talented team, when you add the likes of Moore and Vuskovic into the mix. Augment them with some top established ballers and I honestly think we'll have a team that will do extremely well under RDZ in time.

The academy prospects we have are a coaches dream IMO. Young, talented and mouldable, with high ceilings.

He reminds me of Arjen Robben if anything.

Watching that documentary, I see a person who cares for the club. Wants it to go in the right direction.

Wild thought, but, if he wins the League with Rangers, at 19, he'll be our most successful player in the squad not called Romero.

Make him captain. Start an era.

He may be young, but he'll have had experience of winning both domestically and European. He'll know what winning means.

Combined with Vuskovic coming back. Let's invest in good characters, who want the best for the club. Who appreciate being here.

I think the players who have won the Europa league wouldn't agree with you Scottish league vs the second biggest thropy in European football. Vicario Udogie VDV all of the players still at the club. Tel was part of Bayern squad that won in a league with a way higher coefficient than Scotland

Mikey also won the EL tbf but yeah Bentancur must've won a few Serie As, Xavi probably technically won something while at PSG, few have copa america/AFCON wins, Djed WC win in '26 etc.
