EVERY club with European football suffers pretty much the same ...
Imo the reasons are shared between 2 many games and these new pitches.. didn't think our type of pitch has any track record, but from my exp on these new types .. Passes run so smoothly and it's like velour to run on ... But underneath it's rock hard.. it HAS to play some part..
What clubs have suffered an injury crisis like ours over the course of 3 seasons?

I'm damned if I can think of one.

We had more players, and more crucial players, out.

Yeah but we knew Maddison was out for the season. Should have replaced him better. Was Xavi Simons the answer? An untested young player to the premier league?
Historically those players need a season to adjust.

Woolwich got Eze. Not even played 1500 minutes. But he has probably been more “ready to go” than Simons has been.

We had another big change this season as Frank bought his own team in and we also got a guy from the City group to oversee the whole department. Ange’s new hires left after less than one year in the job.

So all these injuries are the responsibility of a multitude of staff over a number of years. I don’t think you could say it’s the fault of one “team” on particular as there have been so many changes.
Yeah all these changes in a medical department is a major problem.. started by Postecoglou... he rocked up with no fitness staff and implemented a high press strategy and our players dropped like flies for 2 seasons straight, now the department is fucked.

De Zerbi has bought in 2 staff members, guess what one of them is....a fitness coach because recovery for top athletes is paramount to their well being and performance.

Usually at top level sports a medical department works alongside a coaching team lead by the fitness coach of that team because there are multiple ways to do things.

Postecoglou rocked up with no one and we've been fucked since.

This can't just be bad luck or some voodoo curse.
Our Medical Team (and those associated with player recovery etc) must be held accountable.
Best stadium and training facilities in the Premier League. And we get this.

Nah, something's off here.

Newcastle had a pretty bad run last year for a while but nothing like what we've had last three years.

But it goes back to Conte and Mourinho too. No wonder there's conspiracy theories about the Stadium but it's all types - soft tissue and collision injuries so.. it's just been ridiculously bad luck - although questions about rehabbing have to be asked.

Nobody has lost anywhere near as many games to injuries
Think you'll ACTUALLY find they have.. man utd haven't suffered this year quite so badly ... Why? No European football.. without digging Liverpool have lost the best part of their forward line for significant chunks of the season.. man city have suffered with defenders and midfielders out for chunks... Agreed We've suffered more than most... But is it bad luck? Or is there something else playing its part...I'm torn between bad luck , the new pitches and over playing, my sceptical side leans towards the pitches!.. but in reality it's probably a mixture of all three.

I don’t think we have though. When you live in a Spurs bubble it just seems that way.

Wasn’t it proven Newcastle had worse injuries last season.

And you say Woolwich get no injuries but yet this was the case in January. I think we just follow spurs more so are more aware of our injuries.

These kinds of articles don't tell a story though, do they.
It's just number of players and minutes lost.
How do you know who the players are and how important to the team they are?
Who else has had the equivalent of Kudas, Madison, Deki, Solanke and Udogie missing for such a large portion of the season? Having a bunch of fringe players missing that wouldn't get many minutes anyway is irrelevant.

2022/23 was pretty bad but in terms of match hours or days lost there was a considerable jump from 2023/24 onwards.

I think what has really changed though is how many of what we'd consider our first 11 or first team squad are regularly and long term injured over the past couple of seasons.

As I said earlier. It's key personnel injured and for how long, relative to the rest of the squad, which is the key metric

Lange, and that useless CEO knew this, but in January, when there was a real need, they were having lunch with Fearful Frank.

Been awful for 4 years. And never what you'd describe as "good". But yeah the longterm injuries to first 11 players is just horrendous. And Vic has been playing through a hernia for most of the season. Wtf did we do as a club to deserve this curse?

Where did you get those stats from btw?
