Not sure it really matters what DeZerbi wants. If Romero wants out, which he has looked like he does for about a season and a half now, he'll be sold. Good thing really, his attitude and performances this season have been poor to say the least.
He's such a polarising player, which if he was as good as he thinks he is, wouldn't be the case.
I liked Cuti and thought that he was the standout candidate for the captaincy, when Sonny left. But don't think any of the so-called Leadership Group have covered themselves in glory.
He does get treated harshly by refs, and I think a lot of his behaviour is due to out and out frustration. But he's supposed to be a professional and our captain, and he along with several of the players, have let us down badly.
He needs to step up but doubt he will, as he (and others) will have their eye on the WC.

He's been wanting out for the past 2 years.
This doesn't make any sense whatsoever. If he wanted out he just needed to not sign a new contract.
The financial rewards of running down your contract and the subsequent signing fee at the highest bidder vastly outweighs any salary bump he got with his new contract at Spurs.

There's simply no doubt whatsoever that he is our most important player.
Which is entirely the problem. We need better players and have done for a very long time now.
I wonder if anyone is genuinely stupid enough to belive these comments by RDZ mean anything in the wider context. Jeez ...they do not. Even if we WANT to sell him as soon as the season ends you should be saying this. It actually gives me hope, we have to get way cuter at playing the game and he has stared correctly. Right now everyone is the greatest RKM,Bissouma, Dragusin, the laundry lady they are all Real Madrid level. Big every one up get points on the board the truth comes after we survive.
Big difference between bigging people up and saying they're the most important player in the squad though.
I think that's designed for the next 7 games. Nothing more than that unless there is real chemistry and respect between the 2

Probably just knows he’s a player with a massive ego who needs an arm round the shoulder. He’s also the captain and unless he wants to strip him of it then he’s going to need to back him this season.

He’s clearly a player who should start for us if he’s focused, he just hasn’t been for ages. When he’s not focused he’s a mistake and card magnet so it’s a waste of time.
This is clearly RDZ trying to get something out of him, which makes sense.
