I'm not very good at discussing tactics, I'm more into the players attitudes, desire, ambition, bravery, etc so I'll say this.

I think Postecoglou injects more umph into the team, if anything Frank deflated the team.
That is 1000% spot on, and I doubt many would disagree with you whichever side of the debate they fall on.

With that being said, it highlights just how utterly atrocious Ange was at the other aspects of the job that all of that "umph" he managed to instill in the players by talking about their Dads lead to such an abysmal showing in the PL over an 18 month period.

Can't we all just get along and agree that both Ange and Frank were shit?

No because this would mean you once again failing to address the real issues at Tottenham.

No 1: Injuries. We were doing perfectly well in 2024/25 until we lost 4 of our starting back 5 for over 3 months.

No 2: An awfully imbalanced squad low on genuine elite talent; and, most importantly, completely devoid of passing ability. (this deficiency was actually made worse with this summer and January signings believe it or not)

Those are the reasons we are likely to get relegated. Not any individual manager.

It's about to time you woke up. Some of us have been trying to warn you about this for years.

I think in the Premier League Postecoglou required an assistant who is very good with tactics etc, The start of the tenure was good but massively helped by Vicario making astounding saves in certain matches to ensure our attacking play wasn't negated. Overall 5th is good for a first season and the club didn't get anyone, not even Solanke level that could have been some sort of replacement for Kane, even if levels below.

Season two we kept getting beat, lots of injuries, no change to the approach though, so when the players keep piling forward but end up losing match after match, they looked lost.

I said it before and I stick by it, the team needed to change it's approach in the Premier League like it did in the Europa League, we were never going to have a good season with all the injuries, but by maintaining the same tactics Postecoglou was writing his own dismissal letter. There's no need to keep attacking when the team is so depleted, the supporters will understand, we don't want to see the team lose match after match, when with a depleted team we could have dug in, a bit like Tamworth did against us in the cup for 90 minutes, eked out a a few more wins or draws.

We were like a boxer on the ropes, and instead of covering up, we're trying to throw haymakers and getting torn to pieces.

Now I'm going to be in trouble with the Postecoglou fan club again.

One of the big aspects of his tenure that doesn't get that much attention to my mind, is that the longer he had with the players to ingrain his ways, the worse things got.

People defend him with talk of injury crises, and yes they are certainly sub-optimal, but in year one coming towards the end of January we'd made a couple of additions, and had a load of players coming back. Form had been steady, and we looked all set to finish the season flying, around the 4-0 win at Villa time, and then...

The only wins from the remainder of the season came against Luton, Forest, Burnley and Sheff Utd.

That shit form continued into last season and then got even worse.

Spot on.

Sigh. I've pointed this out so many times but will again because I'm not going to let you people keep repeating this rubbish,

After we beat City 1-4 on Matchday 12 of the 24/25 season Spurs were 6th, 4 points off 2nd place, with a GD of +14.

30 minutes later it was announced Vicario had busted his foot. He would join Romero, VDV, and Udogie on the injury list. All of them would barely feature at all until March the next year.

Furthermore our underlying metrics were pretty fucking good. Which you'd expect of a team in 6th with a GD of +14.

Postecoglou was MASSIVELY overachieving with this squad of players. You were just massively overrating our squad. I know accepting that is hard but at some point the evidence of this season surely has to get through to you?

That makes sense, but IMO there were times in the Premier League when injuries would have meant it would have been a good idea to change from the all out attack approach, so are we to take from this that in the Europa League Postecoglou was careful, and in the Premier League reckless?

I don't recall any Premier League matches that the team went all out to defend a 1-0 lead, regardless of injuries.
Ange was probably super desperate for that trophy.

To him and us, losing the final meant everything at the time considering the catastrophic domestic season.

I was Ange out a lot earlier on than most Spurs fans. However, its clear that the more deeper issues are ENIC and recruitment.

We did get worse in a very drastic period in Ange's tenure but the warning signs started in 2019 imo. Thats my standpoint.

You seemed to be arguing against me when I stated that both managers haven't been given the same sympathy regarding injuries. Therefore you think Postecoglou deserves more sympathy given as an excuse for poor form. You don't seem to want to judge the two managers evenly, and argued against me for bring up the point that Frank is being judged as if his injuries were less impactful.

If not then I apologise I didn't realise that you agreed with me and we can all go to bed happily and have sweet dreams.
That's the thing, they've both had different but bad injuries and by different, I mean mainly to different players but because of that, I discount that as a thing to judge either by.

I will only judge them by what we saw on the pitch during their tenures and for me at least, Ange comes out way on top for that.
I started off full of hope under Frank but that quickly faded to doubt, turning to a big nope after the Chelsea and Woolwich games because we didn't even try to play in those two, important games.

Apart from the odd couple of CL games, his football was mostly boring and cowardly and similar to what's often levelled at Ange, you could possibly suggest that those European games were more because the players ignored his instructions and took it upon themselves to play.

At least we had a longer period of hope under Ange and we actually won something.
Any period of hope under Frank was gone after the first month or so for me.

You shouldn't get grief for this post because it's pretty accurate.
Ange was let down with recruitment but also let himself down with sheer bloody-mindedness and a refusal to adapt to circumstances and situations.

We were told this was Frank's greatest strength. People were raving about it in August.

Then reality set in. You can't "adapt to circumstance" if you don't have players good enough to do that.

It sounds harsh but Frank was a complete fraud who turned up saying all the right things but turned into a coward when it came down to it.
It may be a bit of recency bias on my behalf but I do think he's the worst manager we've ever had.

Our squad isn't perfect and is unbalanced, plus injuries have been horrendous but I do not believe that it's as bad as we've seen this season, or last for that matter.
I think that the complete shift from Ange to Frank's style and personality has been (somewhat strangely) devastating to their mentality and confidence.

It's a weird situation because I really can't understand why they are looking so poor.

Mate, look at the join dates of most of the Aussies posting here FFS.

We had a sudden influx with him. The same ones have stayed and almost exclusively chat about Ange. Let’s not lie.

Imagine INVENTING a sport and the sum total of your achievements is 1 (one) World Cup. Even Uruguay have won a couple mate lol.

Add to that zero, I repeat zero European Championship wins. Greece, The Soviet Union and Czechoslovakia have all won it!

That is a staggering level of ineptitude almost unsurpassed in all of human history, in any field. For the love of God get Angelos in now so he can win it for you and restore some national pride.

OMG - can you imagine if Postecoglou was made UK National Manager :roflmao:

Id have a tiny bit of sympathy for his position if it wasn't the fucking Aussies who constantly made it about Australia. Fuck me they were like vegans.

It’s hilarious. Discrimination lmao. Australia is awesome, have family and friends there, they’re basically just Brits with sun and space.

Is it fuck gonna change the fact that I think people who only arrived here with Ange and who only post about Ange are probably not going to be the most reliable source when asked if sacking Ange was a good idea.

Most Aussies are chill and would be embarrassed by the “haha you’re shit at footy but invented it and we are great at swimming and surfing!” shite.
