Tbh in the age of 9 subs there are always 2-3 outfield bench players that are practically never gonna see the field so I don't think iit's that big a deal. We've named multiple kids on the bench on various occasions this season and, let's be real, it would've taken an act of god for any of them to actually get any minutes. Is mad to say that it's better to have Maddison on the bench, even when he cannot play, than someone who would be able to take to the pitch.
Have a feeling that means Madds will prob be captain next season. Should have been this season tbh.
Yes, and on more than one occasion we’ve named two keepers on the bench purely to fill the slots.Tbh in the age of 9 subs there are always 2-3 outfield bench players that are practically never gonna see the field so I don't think iit's that big a deal. Now, if Maddison was blocking the spot of a senior player who's fit, that's more complicated and could cause unrest, but if we'd be giving it as a token spot to a youngster then just give it Madders and let him be a proper part of the dressing room. He's one of the few leaders we've got.
Having Maddison on the bench is purely psychological for the players.
Yes - but if they know he is injured.
It comes across as unnatural and pathetic.
It was a boost last week- because there was a chance he could come on for 10 minutes.
It's a cheap performative transparent stunt.
No you can’t.
Set amount, and must be named, if he sits on it, one of the coaches that usually do, and RDZ might need to rely on, cant
If Artera or Rosenior had named a player on the bench for “vibes” this place would be rocking with piss-taking right now.
Could be wrong but might there be some kind of protocol? The dressing room is only so big and do they want non-selected players wandering in and out? And could be distracting if there's players who were left out just milling around distracting others or even bitter about it?Very weird situation.
He can be with the team without taking up a bench spot.
People clearly don't understand just how bad this group is, it has no leaders and no strong personalities. RDZ is obviously very aware of that now having been with them a few weeks.Squad has mentality problems.... De zerbi trying to boost moral and create an environment of good energy for the team.... people complain.
As if anyone on this board knows more than him.

I care that a squad, that once boasted the likes of Graham Roberts, Richard Gough and many other win at all costs players, is now populated by a bunch of wee girls that might get a psychological boost by one of their injured team mates sitting down next to the pitch. The fragile wee angels.Could be wrong but might there be some kind of protocol? The dressing room is only so big and do they want non-selected players wandering in and out? I'm sure other players are allowed in at the manager's discretion, but could imagine there could be rules to keep it tight for the team talks and half time?
This would at least explain why he's bothered to actually name Maddison.
But anyway as others have said...who cares? This isn't even a story.
Richard Gough, the hard man who left after one season cos his wife missed heroin-addled, habitually dark and rainy Glasgow.I care that a squad, that once boasted the likes of Graham Roberts, Richard Gough and many other win at all costs players, is now populated by a bunch of wee girls that might get a psychological boost by one of their injured team mates sitting down next to the pitch.
