Player Dominic Solanke

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

One of the main reasons we finished 17th last year, and getting relegated this time round.

Awful, dreadful, catastrophic signing.

100 % - for various reason one of the club's worst ever signing.
Last season when people thought he was good: it was for his pressing . £65m for a forward who chases shadows .
Others buy forwards who can run with the ball - we buy one - who runs around like a headless chicken chasing thin air.

The era of Johnson, Richarlison and Solanke is a dire one.

You could just about get away with Richarlison - because he can be a handfull sometimes.
Solanke is a defenders dream. Completely predictable .

His 15 appearances this year are the reason we’re going down? What did all our other strikers contribute? Richy got 9, what about everyone else in the role?

Confused Looking For GIF by Looney Tunes

Richy got the assist against Wolves.
It's not only that Solanke does not score - he does not get assists - and never has.

There is no forward in the PL - that he is better than,

After we got him in i would hope he would be saying that regardless of whether he was actually first choice or not.

Managers lie sometimes, this could well be one of them.
He's our club record striker and Ange said " 'We looked at him,(Toney) but the reality was that Dom [Solanke] is the one that I wanted. It took the whole summer to get him in, but he was the one that fitted the profile that we wanted.'

but you think he is what simply lying ? Being political? If he had merely been lumbered with our club record signing I very much doubt he would be this effusive. He clearly wanted the player like he did Johnson he favoured this profile hard runners big lungs type. This recruitment is part of our current malaise. I dont buy we brought this player against his wishes.

On the available evidence Id say it is far more likely he got what he wanted than some conspiracy theory alternative based on nothing.

He was exactly who we wanted. Stats back that up.

Yep systems player. Bit like Johnson arrive third man run to back post and finishing the inverted fullback cross Ange loved. We can not say it didn't work but blimey going from Kane Son to such automation reliant players has been brutal. I honestly feel like I did not appreciate Kane and Son enough in hindsight.

Yep I always said the fanbase would get a wake up call post Kane and Son.
However I did not expect us to get relegated the season after they had both left.

The irony now that I could yet get a fucking huge wake up call too….. crazy times.

I said the other day when I was at the Wolves game after Muani hit the post in the first half that we've been totally spoiled watching Son and Kane finishing in front of goal.

The pair of them are arguably the most lethal finishers in the world and we had the joy of watching them play together.

I even watch other teams' strikers and think they're not in the same league as those two.

Haaland is a brute but he gets plenty of chances to score goals. The conversion rate that Kane and Son operated at was mindblowing.

Lewandowski is probably the only other striker who's a complete finisher like Kane or Son.

Absolutely spot on. Ange for all his talk of entertaining football -actually favoured donkeys and runners.
He wanted Johnson and Solanke - he played Bissouma and Sarr. Even in the early days he used to sub Maddison and Son.

And he said over and over again - every signing was on.
Solanke was £65m - the highest value in world football that summer.

I understood why we went for Solanke but he hasn't surprised me, notwithstanding the injuries.
Can you explain your understanding of why we went for him?

Because apart from it being an easy deal to do, with zero competition and him being English and on low wages, from a purely footballing perspective spending 65 million on a striker who’s record prior to joining was a whopping 29 goals, (19 of which came in one season!!!) in 134 Premier League games, was right up there with some of the dumbest transfer decisions the inept berks running our recruitment have made.

I do agree he certainly hasn’t surprised me either though. He is a bang average bottom half level striker and he has looked every bit that level of player for us.

How old are you? 😅 We've signed some complete and utter dogshit over the years. Signed plenty worse up front, for big money at the time too. Helder Postiga anyone? Soldado too, appalling players for us.
Soldado would have zero goals if he would play for us this season
cuz i cant remember any penalty given for us
