Just got in. Watched the first half in the pub and Rangers were all over them. Mikey was useful, not great.
Just seen they lost 2-1. What happened?

Complete reverse of first half. Mikey tried a bit too hard IMO, faded massively and showed the defensive side to his game needs a huge amount of work still.

He wasn’t bad, but just a bad day and fit for a match like this (they needed a speedster to break and run it up the park, and dart back into position), Mikey hasn’t got the running power consistently so was ineffective.

Should try and step up a level. If we're in the prem still I'd look to get him out to Germany
I think the whole "level" thing is overrated for attacking players. More important for defenders.

Confidence is more important for attackers. Confidence to take risks, take chances, and expand one's repetoire. A fair amount of attacking is having the audacity to try, buttressed by the raw physical ability to pull it off.

Look at Dele when he came in - you think he scores *that goal* if he'd been farmed out to Gladbach first?

Another season in Scotland where he's comfortable and thriving will do him better than a potentially disruptive switch to a middling Bundesliga club that ends up playing on the back foot more than it attacks.

If we stay up we could be in a bit of a weird spot where we've got 3-4 first team forwards out with long term injury in Xavi, Odobert, Kulu and potentially Kudus. Maybe Kulu's career with us is done, but either way it's an awkward situation.

We're obviously gonna need to invest a fair bit in that area of the pitch, but we can't realistically replace all 4 of those with new players, so there could be a spot in the squad for Mikey until January at least.

Personally I think he could use another loan but if he has a good pre-season and RDZ likes him it's not unthinkable we keep him around as an understudy/rotation option for Maddison and a depth option off the left, then we could loan him in January if he's not getting enough minutes and other players are coming back.

(If we go down I think we almost certainly need to just keep him).
