Lankshear £1m from Sheffield United (who acquired him from Woolwich a year previously as Lankshear refused a pro contrat there) .

At Sheffield U, Lankshear captained their u18 side and was record top scorer, albeit in the next tier down from PL U18 that Spurs play in.

Wilson has done a bit more in a SPL (which is more comparable to L1), but only looked 'ok' for Spurs u21's not 'wowing' them, which is why £2.5m seems OTT.
I would've liked to have given Wilson a bit longer because from what little I saw, there is some talent there but as you say, that's quite a hefty price for him.

It's quite hard to settle and impress in a few short months unless you really are something special.

1m plus bonuses for Lankshear. I would have thought the 2.5m for Wilson includes bonuses linked to how he got on with us.
I think SPL is a bit higher than the likes of Lincoln and Stevenage.
Surely Woolwich released Lankshear. You don’t refuse a new contract and end up at Sheffield Utd under 21.

Not the way things work
1 Lankshear had a scholarship at Woolwich
2 Lankshear Declined a pro contract at Woolwich
3 Lankshear signs a contract at Sheffield United (paying some comp to Woolwich) maybe £200k ?
4 After 12 months, Spurs agree a fee of circa £1m with Sheffield U and Lankshear joins Spurs. Rest is history

IMO SPL clubs generally level of L1, maybe Celtic Championship and maybe lowest SPL clubs closer to L2 - good guide is their revenues below Celtic and Rangers are closer to L1

Need to change things up a bit because we're a bit slow and toothless.
Had a couple of good chances but Brighton have been the better team by quite a bit, better passing, movement and defensive solidity (although they do have a 29 yr old CB, which probably helps).

Need more from TT and RRD as the former has been a bit blunt and the latter, a bit wayward with his passing.

Edit. I used the word "bit" a bit too much in this post! 😁

Nobody looked good tonight.
But, should have had a second pen and GK errors done for us.
The dopey comm is saying it was a great Brighton performance.
What chances did they have ? Any great passages of play? No!

Just got back form the U21 game. Dismal. Didn't deserve to win. That stadium is jinxed.

Loads of nice chips from Chips Town though, so it wasn't all bad.

You're right about the 2nd pen - You could almost hear the ref thinking, "I've only just given them one, I can't give them another one." Soppy cunt.
The Brighton team looked way better coached, I must say. Also they wanted it more and were much sharper.
