If before the Aston Villa game we were offered getting 4 points from the next 2 games while West ham got 0 , we would have all taken it right? A win against Chelsea away awaits us next , imagine they give us the 3 points that keeps us up?

True, but the mind does funny things as does hope and expectation.

Next roll of thr dice is West Ham’s. They know the permutations as should most of us.

Lose - we need 1 point
Win - we likely need 4 points
Draw - we need 2 points.

It's all for West Ham to do , and we react. What they don't sustain are injuries or make mistakes, which begs to ask how they are 18th

Our situation is arguably a lot easier to understand.

Yeah I don't like how its always them playing first and us playing catch up, its the same in the Title race though, goons play first , We just need to Hope the BarCodes have a bit of pride and want to finish above Newly promoted Sunderland .....

If I wanted to sell the perfect end to the season though, I would be wanting Spurs and West ham to be Level on points with 1 game to play so for that I'm betting £50 on a West ham win and Spurs Draw!

Speculating on the next two matches might be good "sport" for idle minds. But why worry about that.

The cold hard truth is that if we cannot keep ahead of West Ham on the table at the end of the season we simply don't deserve to remain in the PL.

And, if we are relegated, it won't be the final 5 or 6 weeks of the season that, by themselves, will be the cause. Nor will it be bad luck. It will be our on-field performance over 38 (think about that number!) matches.

If we cant amass enough points to stay in the PL then that will be an unfortunate and inconvenient truth and the Championship is where we will regroup over a couple of seasons.

Having said all that the Spurs supporters down under are as keen as anyone to see us remain in the PL.

Thats truly fucked on their part!

Side note, the words Matt Law should be banned and filtered !

If you look at the poll, it's overwhelmingly in favour of winning the FA Cup. 80%. And I bet the 20% is made up of rival fans.

No sane Chelsea fan would want to relegate us over winning a trophy, it's completely ridiculous. People take this tribalism shit way too far I swear.

I was LITERALLY about to mention that, but in a more hypothetical "imagine we'd got a point at Villa and won last night's it's still 4 points which, bearing in mind we'd only got 1 point from De Zerbi's FIRST two games, is definite improvement...

A draw at Chelsea isn't impossible, and then it's all on the final day, but at LEAST it's still in our hands....
Cos I definitely don't trust THAT Leeds last night to turn up at the London Stadium on the final day....

It's crap unless players actually voice it.

The filth's players, and their interim boss will give every last ounce on the weekend and our game will be very much after the Lord Mayor's show, and they will have weary legs.

In addition, there will only be 2 short days for any media-driven frenzy about the possible connotations for our game.

And what we do know is that we can give everything if West Ham have lost in particular, ,because in any such event, it's one point needed.

A draw for West Ham restrains us more than a loss.

Our last two games are against teams in bad form.

Everyone seems to be writing off the game at the Bridge next week. And yeah if we go into the game thinking we'll lose then we definitely will. Or we can go into the game seeing that it's a team in really bad form that we could get a result from.

Everton are also in bad form. Winless in their last 5. They have Sunderland at home next week and its possible that they might go into our game mathematically out of Europe already.

It was just the other day people were treating it like a foregone conclusion that West Ham were down. Now one game later its the exact opposite. Some of you need to get a grip.

Wish you'd have posted that earlier and then I wouldnt be walking around under this cloud!

I wonder if West Ham would set up for a draw , willing to gamble that we will inevitably lose to Chelsea and go into the last game a point behind but knowing a win could well get them safe banking on us drawing or losing to Everton , especially with their old trophy winning manager in charge. Our home record is appalling , we cannot win at home for love nor money and Everton are a good team with a good manager that will be fully motivated to help his old club.

Absolutely agree with all of that, but on the other side of the coin, if (and it's a big if), if we do stay up, then that means we will have deserved to stay up, i.e. it will mean that we were not one of the worst 3 teams in the league over 38 games. So IF we do stay up, I hope we won't have idiots on here saying that we 'deserved to go down'...

The good thing is Hammers need a win. Draws won't be enough for them. The bad thing is I think it comes down to what the other teams want, which team do they want to relegate. And in this we don't have the edge. The facists will do anything to get us relegated. Leeds gave everything against us. No idea what Newcastle and Everton think. Also, we know the referees are against us. Once we got a goal against Leeds the ref gave usbnothing, absolutely nothing. So yeah, it does not look good. We need a miracle at the Bridge.

Well articulated mate.

That's why West Ham/Santo are under more pressure than us.

It's not in Howe's interests to see the game as anything other than one Newcastke should win, against a team in 18th. He will want to send the home fans home looking foreard to the following season. Last time for many that they will see their team for a few months.

West Ham have shown real durability and are good on the counter attack. A lot of their defending is however last ditch and they give away chances. I take Newcastle as more likely to win than any other result, but recognise West Ham more than have it in them to get a result.

If Gordon starts for Newcastle I think the home side win. It will.most likely be his last game for them but Howe seems hard-nosed in that soft spoken manner of his.

I said before West Ham played Brentford that they wouldn't win any of their next three , getting between 0-3 points max.
I obviously still say that , I don't think they best Newcastle. A defeat more likely than a draw or win but if we had won last night , the pressure would have been immense. They would then have to win and would leave themselves open. If they don't score early ( ala Brentford) then I think they concede at some point and the game opens up even more and they suffer a possibly heavy defeat. The first twenty minutes are vital.

Pretty much agree.

I don't think fot one moment West Ham will take the game to Newcastle, who are more likely (I feel), to control the middle of the park.

Whatever happens you know Santo will either aim to protect or go for it depending on the score. He reacts quickly in that regard.

It's difficult to call, and Newcastle definitely give you a chance or two, but I just sense one of their misfiring strikers will have a good game. Odds on Wilson scores as and when he comes on, though, hopefully in a loss to West Ham.

Worst case situation with West Ham winning both is still just a draw and a win.

Against a very poor Chelsea team a draw or a win there isn't beyond reach.

We just need Newcastle to show up for their final home game of the season and even if they don't it's still in our hands.

I have seen a decent number of social media comments that said, from fans of rival clubs, including Chelsea, that they don’t want to see us go down because losing a rival makes the game less interesting. No one really considers Spam a rival on the same order. And if you are Chelsea you feel that you never lose to us so it is a comfortable situation.

I normally come to terms with the result a day later, but I'm still fuming about the no call on Madders. It's infuriating seeing all the knuckledraggers go "but durr he got the ball!" when the touch on the ball was so light that Madders still had control of it. That's a stonewall penalty for any other club in the league. Jarred Gillett is such a pussy that he refused to make any big decision on the pitch and instead relied on VAR to do the officiating for him.

It's aggravating to know that not only do we have to play well enough to beat either the chavs or Everton, but we have to beat them by such a margin so that VAR can't screw us out of another victory.

Have to pray that Newcastle beat Spam so we only need a single point to ensure survival.
