Management Roberto De Zerbi

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I don't blame RDZ for selection so much because he's got nothing to work with.

It's obvious he has raised the team's level in just a short time, if he weren't having to bring a knife to a gunfight each week I think he would likely be the best manager we have had in some time

I wonder if he mixes the midfield for Chelsea, as in brings in one of Gray and Bergvall, just for the youthful legs, knowing the filth have played 3 days earlier.

Might depend on what we need from the game.

To be fair, we should have had at least 1 goal going into half time and, over the course of the game, should have been out of sight before Longstaff forced the Worldie from Kinsky.

Richarlison was the main culprit. How he managed to shank that ball from RKM wide was ridiculous, a simple side foot volley would have buried it, instead he tried to put his laces through it.

The one thing I really noted from the game was that, whilst we were energetic, it was frantic. Against Villa we played with energy and aggression but, more importantly, it was controlled. Our press was on point for the majority of the match there, last night it was all over the place with virtually no control, hence why we saw so many balls bouncing off the shins of players rather than being controlled.

I still think we are scared to play at home, it's a mentality thing, which was why we went into our shell after Tel's goal, and got worse after the penalty. Our mentality is fragile, and I include the fans in that, as the ground went very quiet after the pen when they should have been roaring the team on.
I agree about our team AND fans mentality - both prone to being very fragile and weak skinned when the pressure is up. I thought our fans in the stadium were generally pretty shit, for the most part only piping up momentarily when we were getting half chances, otherwise very passive and nervy. They should be singing practically throughout the whole game to hype up the players and to be that twelfth man!

He needs major backing in the summer, i hope he's ruthless and cuts out as much crap as he can. Play the game now and tell rubbish that they are good, but as soon as that window opens the mask needs to come off.

What he got wrong was the substitutions imo. Waited too long to make a sub when the forward line was knackered...yes I get not much options in an attacking sense but he could have changed formation.

The crowd was quite quiet in the first half too. Down to nerves for sure but that energy seeps into the players.

Give me an idea. Why not start the first half with the intended subs (Gray, Bergvall, Bissoma) , low block, park the bus, and drag the match to half time. And at half time, put in Gallagher, Benta, Palhinha with fresh legs to do the press on tired defense.

Benta, Palhinha, and Gallagher get tired at the 60-minute mark it seems and this brings our performance down by almost 50%.

Start the young ones, tire them, then put the starters in the second half and have a go.

Feels like overthinking it to me. Surely we just go with our strongest 11 from the start.

Chelsea are in rotten form and will be 3 days off a cup final. Going to their place with kids and a flaky player like Biss in midfield and shutting up shop just feels like it sends the wrong message and will play into their hands. With our dodgy attack last thing we want to be doing is chasing the game if we allow Chelsea to take the initiative.

We should do what we did vs Villa. Play the experienced guys, press the ever-living fuck out of them early doors, break their spirits and try to score a couple of goals to kill the game.
