Management Roberto De Zerbi

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I was nodding to every word you said until you mentioned Romero. He wouldve been sent off and made it worse for us
Yeah if anything the last 5 games have shown us how little we'd miss Romero if he left tbh. Our defensive numbers have been absolutely fine and Danso, an unspectacular but solid CB, looks comfortable and calm in there.

Obviously he's got the occasional line splitting pass in his locker and puts in a world class performance every now and then, but I feel much calmer knowing we don't have a ticking time bomb as captain. An away game against Chelsea is exactly the type of fixture where he's liable to do something dumb and screw the team over in a crucial moment.

Sell him and bring in Vuskovic next year.

RDZ's refusal to call out the PGMOL or criticise decisions because he's above all that is ever so slightly starting to wear a bit thin.

It wouldn't hurt to at least acknowledge that we're being fucked over on a regular basis by the officials instead of being 'above all that"

This is going to be unpopular and I appreciate he is working with bang average players but I’ve been disgusted with our last 2 performances , manager has to squeeze that extra 10% out , we’re fighting for our lives and I’m just not seeing that I’m afraid . Chelsea handed us a point on a plate last night and we didn’t show anywhere near enough urgency to take it , a pot shot and a player free in the 6 yard box that couldn’t miss , that’s the extent of them troubling us , even in the last 5 minutes they took off their better players and said - “ go on , get your goal “ and our final 3rd play consisted of passing backwards , this is not what I thought a de zerbi team was . That was the effort after 9!days off , heaven forbid what it will look like on Sunday .

People actually going for De Zerbi is just ridiculous our performances since he has been here have improved in every aspect, we unfortunately have a huge mistake in us every game.

Richarlison and Muani cost us yesterday, like most of this season they are absolutely diabolical, the pair off them.

ITS THE PLAYERS

Although I do think DeZerbi has done pretty well in an extremely difficult situation, I'd like to point out that even if he wins against Everton, he'll still have got less points in his first seven games than either Frank or Ange.

I know it's been under very different circumstances, but I think it's still a little concerning going forward.
Really? Ange came in to a team who had just finished top half and Frank came in to a team who had just won Europa.

RDZ has come to a team who didn’t win in 4 months after the worst window I can remember that gave us a net of minus 4 attackers (BJ, Kudus, Odobert, Scarlett). He loses Vicario, Romero and Udogie before he even gets past one game. And he has got us top half in current form despite that shit show.

He isn’t the concern. What we have available is and that is all down to the imbeciles at the top

Were people actually watching the game? There were snippets of passing patterns that we could never see under Frank the cunt and poor Tudor. It's the quality and low confidence of the players at play here we don't see much 'throwing the kitchen sink' kind of effort.

And honestly we also have to be balanced with not conceding any further goals if we play too open while attacking, which could really stab into our hearts deeper with a worse GD and more morale/confidence hurt.

I dont think he necessarily wants to give the players an excuse. I am sure he is boiling up inside, but the woe is me attitude is not what we need. We just need the players to go for it on Sunday.

He is losing credibility quickly with his reliance on Muani.
Nobody…nobody… nobody can convince me that sarr, gray and bergvall could have been worse than him.

I agree with all of this except one thing, the squad itself is rotten and needs gutting. Otherwise De Zerbi and the next guy will get sacked. I’ve been saying it for months, the issue is these players.
Beyond the lack of football intelligence and discipline, there’s a weak mentality running through the entire squad. One setback and they either turn into headless chickens or completely cave in.
It's not just the players, the weak mentality permeates the whole club. Until that changes nothing will. Simply swapping out different players or the manager is like rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic.

I do like De Zerbi but as with any manager he'll need to be given significant time and investment before we see much improvement, but just like every Spurs manager before him he'll get neither.

To be clear, I'm not criticizing DeZerbi. The fact we're still within one point of staying up, given where we were a month ago, is astonishing, and is clearly primarily down to him. He's exceeded expectations, no doubt.

My point was that Frank and Postecoglou are largely derided as terrible managers on here, yet they both had pretty strong starts too. Maybe, just maybe, the problem isn't the manager?
