Match **** Tottenham Hotspur v Everton 4pm Sunday 24th Of May ****

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I suggest we stop talking about Everton have something to play for or not. This Everton player is injured or not, that player suspended or not.

Just go out there, dominate, and WIN the match. No matter who is out there or what they play for or not. End of......

Exactly, just play the game on the pitch not the one in our heads.

It's going to be really tough though, you could see how the pressure weighed on us against Chelsea. Even with a half-strength opponent we couldn't hold our nerve.

Hopefully we open the scoring on Sunday and can put the game to bed quickly. The nightmare scenario is if West Ham score early, the crowd starts murmuring and we fall to pieces. The biggest challenge on Sunday will be to maintain focus.

Not sure if this favours us or not, in that Moyes would probably have stayed at West Ham had they offered him a new contract.

I think his team selection on Sunday will offer one or 2 clues.

With no Europe on offer I wonder if he will choose to start one or two of his usual bench sitters?

What we just need to do is focus on the job at hand but it's a dead rubber for Everton. I hope they treat it in a similar vein.

If it were me I would be bigging up the job Moyes has done at Everton and what he did for West Ham, just to make him bristle at West Ham's treatment of him, where many of their fams were jeering at the bloke and calling for his sacking. This would be painful payback.
Any added percentage to go in our favour helps....
I'm not saying Moyes will throw the game, he's WAY too professional for that...

But let's just say we're drawing going into the 90th minute, I'd LIKE to think the wee canny Scot in Moyes will just let West Ham know how he feels about them and stay unbeaten on the last day.... No need to push it lads, a creditable draw away at Spurrrs suits us both!!

Oliver with the whistle, what could go wrong?
Do I need to even ask What his record is like reffing us...? I daren't look!

I hope so

I'm taking extra tomatoes to throw at them if we stay up!!!

If we get relegated, I'm not going to take them out of the tins!
Just saw the last comment.... 😂 I'd partially open the tins, but leave the lid attached, just in case Vinai or Lange decide to not read the room and applaud the fans!!

De Zerbi needs to go full Pacino from Any Given Sunday.

I don't know what to say really.
The biggest battle of our professional lives all comes down to Sunday.
Either we heal as a team or we are going to crumble.
Inch by inch, pass by pass till we're finished.
We are in hell right now, gentlemen
believe me and we can stay here
and get the shit kicked out of us. Or,
we can fight our way back into the light.
We can climb out of hell. One inch, at a time.

Now I can't do it for you. I'm too old.
I look around and I see these young faces
and I think I mean...
I made every wrong choice a middle age man could make. I uh.... I pissed away all my money believe it or not.
I chased off anyone who has ever loved me.
And lately, I can't even stand the face I see in the mirror.

You know when you get old in life things get taken from you. That's, that's part of life. But, you only learn that when you start losing stuff. You find out that life is just a game of inches. So is football.
Because in either game life or football
the margin for error is so small.
I mean one half step too late or to early
you don't quite make it.
One half second too slow or too fast
and you don't quite catch it.
The inches we need are everywhere around us. They are in ever break of the game
every minute, every second.

On this team, we fight for that inch
On this team, we tear ourselves, and everyone around us to pieces for that inch.
We CLAW with our finger nails for that inch. Cause we know when we add up all those inches that's going to make the fucking difference between WINNING and LOSING between LIVING and DYING.

I'll tell you this... in any fight, it is the guy who is willing to die who is going to win that inch. And I know, if I am going to have any life anymore it is because, I am still willing to fight, and die for that inch
because that is what LIVING is.
The six inches in front of your face.

Now I can't make you do it. You gotta look at the guy next to you. Look into his eyes.
Now I think you are going to see a guy who will go that inch with you. You are going to see a guy who will sacrifice himself for this team because he knows when it comes down to it, you are gonna do the same thing for him.

That's a team, gentlemen and either we heal now, as a team, or we will die as individuals. That's football guys.
That's all it is. Now, whattaya gonna do?

We will all support the club on Monday. 25th, regardless.

Those who are going can give the team everything they can muster, but it's on De 'Zerbi and the players to get this over the line.

We can only lose the advantage, we hold, so there can be no excuses.

However bad and tense we feel. Santo, the West Ham players and fans will be feeling worse. No question.

Oh fuck I was dreading this. I knew they’d do it.

Michael Oliver is the ref. The one they put on games where they want to manufacture a result.

Has the opposite effect for me this time.

It’s clarity in that we are under no illusions about what’s coming from the officials on Sunday so everyone knows where they stand.

A fully motivated Spurs vs an Everton that’s got nothing to play for has more than enough to get a point despite Michael Oliver. We can basically just ignore him now and just focus on what needs to happen after he blows the whistle every time.

The dynamic changes if West Ham take the lead whilst we are drawing , then the whole vibe changes . We really need to go a goal up and try and control the game . Fans need to somehow keep calm ( as impossible as it sounds ) we can’t get on players backs , I feel Muani is going to come into some criticism if he starts poorly . On and off the pitch we need to keep our heads and just get the team over the line . Then we can tell them all what we think of them .

I really hope they ignore the needing a point, we need to go and be positive and win the game.
If we try to keep it tight and slow the game down we are fucked imo. Needing just a draw makes me more nervous than anything.

The refs have been cunts. They will be cunts in this game as well but we’re winning this! They aren’t the reason any of us watch football so bollox to all the attention they’ve been getting off Spurs fans.

The Brighton and Leeds games both should/could have been 3 points… the fans will be amazing again and we will get over the line.
Welcome back Dicky. Hope everything’s OK with you.

Roberto will have them going for the win, i think we are assured of that.

It'll be down to the players on Sunday. Frightening really, but all we can do is hope and support.

Michael Oliver Spurs games.
This season he's had 4. The worst was Man United away where he had the red card out before Romero made contact, and didn't give Solanke a penalty when he was picked up and body slammed into the ground.
It's worth noting here that our very next game was Newcastle, the team he supports, who ended that match week 4 points ahead of us.
But refs aren't bias/bent.

Fortunately, there is nothing a bad Spurs decision can help Newcastle with this weekend. We can't catch them with a win.
In fact, Newcastle and Everton start the day on the same points with only 2 goals between them for GD.

Keys to the Game:
  • Play with an attacking intent. First thought should be to go forwards, dribble forward, pass forward, run off the ball forward.
  • Keep the width, cross the ball low not high, they've got lumbering centre backs.
  • Cross the ball more and shoot more! We just don't do this enough often opting for an extra pass to create the perfect opportunity.
  • Keep the ball. It's going to be hot. Make the ball do the running.
  • Don't let Ndiaye, KDH, McNeil or Garner have time on the ball.
  • Dogs of war mentality. We did it against villa but not in the two games since. Again, it's going to be hot so might have to be a bit more sensible about running around like lunatics.
  • Take responsibility, show some leadership. Not seen it but there's always a time to try. The reaction after the wolves and villa wins showed me the players are giving their effort. We are of course let down by quality.
  • Pressure makes people do stupid shit, I'm sure we will see something dumb happen.
  • Fans should just support, the tension will get to the players quickly. Save the protest for the end.
  • Decisions to be made regarding Udogie starting?
  • RKM won't start, straight swap for Maddison?
  • Palhinha to start or bring in someone with more legs?
The quality isn't there but we can get the result we need. None of the above is groundbreaking news.

Genuinely forget about the Leeds game, it's in our control and we have to focus on that. I'd rather have it in our hands than not, even though that is a curse for us. Honestly turn off the WiFi and phone signal in the stadium, better yet it means the ref can't speak to VAR.
I'm sure Michael Oliver will want to be the centre of attention at some point.

My current line up is like this but may change:
[LINEUP]Kinsky
Porro Danso VDV Spence
Gallagher Bentancur
Tel Maddison Udogie
Richarlison [/LINEUP]
Madison will not be ready , only after about an hour.

I would be very surprised. Before the game, may well have got a lot of traction.

6pm on a Sunday B Hol weekend with scorching temps nah, add in the possibility we may well have lost and be relegated, not a chance many stay.

I can foresee mass walkouts around 80mins depending on the score.
Win or lose, stay up or go down, I’m out of there at the final whistle.

I’ll show my appreciation (or not) for the season’s return on my investment on my way to the exit. Having to sit through 22 of the 26* home games this season has been an experience.

And as for our captain...

*I would have been at the other four if I wasn't on holiday or in hospital.

There's no point waiting until we're losing to give him 30-45 minutes.
Put him on from the start, when it's guaranteed to be 0-0 and try to score a few early goals.
When he's run his game, put Gallagher on to chase the ball around.
I agree. The whole “put him on against tired legs” argument doesn’t really hold up in the Premier League anymore when fitness levels are a high as they are and 5 changes can be made late on. Not to mention, late on if we’re a goal down their defence is going to be more compact and difficult to break down as they protect their lead.

If anything, I’d rather he start and be given the opportunity to try and manufacture something against players who haven’t got into rhythm of the game yet.

It's more about tired minds than tired legs!
