No I would never say he’s in the same group as those men, but with his potential and the other skills he has as a passer of the ball and the ability to help progress play up the pitch as he has, he could have been one day in that conversation. All the giftedness but none of the leadership qualities and none of the commitment to the club that those had.
I personally hold both Vertonghen and Toby as better players than Romero.
Romero has higher peaks. But he is too inconsistent and rash to be near King, Jan or Toby.

I'd probably also say Woodgate when fit. For us older fans you can add Roberts, Mabbutt and Gough minimum. The fact most would rather keep VDV speaks volumes as well.
