We desperately need to sign a striker this summer. Richarlison is obviously leaving. Solanke should be too as he has been a huge disappointment.

But the reality is, we need a striker. If we go into the new season with Solanke as our main man, we are properly fucked. He will no doubt get injured again.

Our big problem this season has been scoring goals.

And please do not mention Odobert, or even Kudus. None of them are reliable goalscorers.

Unless we solve this problem in the summer, we will struggle again next season.
Again, in an offensive “system” that was worse than school level, Kudus had 2 goals and 6 assists while constantly being double teamed. His assists rank around 10th in the PL despite not playing last 4+ months. In a goodsystem
Like RDZ’s, he may be very good!
Biggest improvement since he has come in has been our off the ball movement. Our players can pass when there is movement around them. Before, too many players were just stood around making no attempt to get into space and the man in possession had no options and got blamed for losing the ball.
Amen to this. Got so angry watching Frank ball. The diff in our attack under him and RDZ was night and day. And RDZ had no time to actually implement his system, just coached up the basics which we floundered at.

I’d watch other teams movement and passing and bemoan our inability to do the same.

Some may be players, yes. But a large part was a piss poor coach!

Yeah - under Frank we basically never did one-twos, give-and-gos or any one touch passing. Just get it wide and launch it. We were the worst team in possession in the entire league.

De Zerbi has brought all of that back and suddenly we look like a competent team in possession again with largely the same defenders and CMs.

Exactly this. And I do not care the level of competition some are trudging up to downplay it.

If you don’t see huge differences in our attacking patterns under RDZ, I don’t know what to tell you.

And this without a preseason to actually implement his system.

And somehow, our injury crisis got worse under him!

Through no fault of his own, this is likely to be RDZ’s apex moment at the club.

He’s an extremely ambitious manager who has regularly fallen out with club executives for holding their feet to the fire. And unfortunately he’s joined an ambitionless club run by empty suits whose only interest are keeping their cushy jobs.

He’ll be sacked in March next season for complaining about the underwhelming January window Lange and Vinai delivered.

Everyone needs to be realistic in where the club is. We can not continue the cycle of hiring and firing managers or we will continue to be seen as a joke. The club needs to give RDZ time and the players he wants (if realistic). RDZ (and fans) needs to accept we are not a desirable club for the top players at this time. If this ends badly we will struggle to get another top level manager. It may be RDZ's last chance at a big club if he falls out with everyone and throws his toys out of the pram. If it doesn't work we will be back to square one.

Not sure about that. Reckon Coventry, Hull and Ipswich go down with no fight tbh.
None of them have the money to do what the likes of Sunderland and Forest did and none of their coaches has the experience of Farke at coming up and trying to stay there.
My guess is relegation is wrapped up by late March.

I think Ipswitch can survive. Really rate McKenna, and he will have learned a lot from the last time they were up (bounced from L1 straight to the prem dont forget, and only actually relegated with a couple of games left as memory serves)

Only takes a Leeds/Sunderland (manager poached?)/Palace (new manager) / Bournemouth (new manager) to have a 'mare and theres room for one of these to stay up

If I have a concern on Kudus its his propensity to hold the ball too long.

I think its a part of his game, but I think also it was amplified by Franks non-football. With no support, no one to pass too - what else can he do?

So... If RDZ can get into him, get him passing and moving more (and I think he can) - I think Kudus can have an incredible season next year.

In a RDZ side he'll be dribbling in the final 3rd, not from our half... he'll have support, options.... he'll be in good position to cross/shoot/pass more often ...

Im actually very excited to see what he can do (thinking how good Mitoma was under RDZ)

Frank is getting an easy ride in the mainstream press, its disgusting.

He is categorically the worst manager Ive seen for us in YEARS. I mean, since Santini?

The best bit with RDZ is this isnt even really his idea of football. Its compromised, basic, foundational.

He made clear he was holding back, just giving simple instruction, just doing the necessary to get results.

And even a throttled RDZ is LEVELS above Frank (who is a complete fucking fraud)

Again, thinking to next season, so exciting...

My brother from another mother!
Absolutely spot on post, agree w every word.

Kudus will go one of two ways: 1) He will morph into a true star under RDZ and his system. His dribbling ability, passing/assists, and aggressive play can fit perfectly. 6 assists from the wing in half a year play. And should have a lot more 1x1 opps to beat his man. 2). He will not buy into RDZ’s quick moving of the ball and the 2 will clash.

And agree, everyone seems to love Frank. Apparently a very good guy. But from early on, he was absolutely atrocious managing this squad. Zero discernible attack patterns. Players had no respect for him.

agreed...however I can't see buying well happening
ENIC + Vinai +Lange = bugger all...

Yep, we're going to put a few clubs back in their places next season.
(I'm always overly optimistic for a new season but this time I'm going all in!).

A lot of them deserve it too. In fact I’d say most of the league do. DZ has that energy to do it, if not forced to operate with one hand tied behind his back in the usual ways.

Sunday needs to be not forgotten by these players, just like winning the Europa league, which I think has. The last twelve months have been ridiculous even by our standards. I just ask for a season of enjoying the football, going to games and seeing some wins.

By the sounds of that letter, they will be working closely with RDZ, to get the right players. Rather it be Levy best buys...
By the sounds of it, we have already got some much needed back to VdV, and thbat alone speaks volumes already.

I get it, Levy has burned a lot of people, but he is gone and yes, I know, it's ENIC still, already the tone has changed... Having a player or two ready to go the day after then end of the season...

God, I hope you're right....

The situations we created for Muani 1v1 under De Zerbi but with Kudus would have been almost impossible to defend. Especially as he wouldn’t be knackered from being out only out ball and receiving passes with 2 defenders and a touchline to navigate

Unfortunately for us, Muani on those 1v1s (especially the one versus Pickford) resulted in him doing the defensive work for the opposition, instead of trying to score
