Management Vinai Venkatesham - CEO

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

And the two solid gold opportunities to prove otherwise (buying in January and sacking Frank) he failed magnificently at!

I just don’t trust the snake!
For the sake of the argument: Is it really Vinai's job to buy players or does that fall on Lange?

I get that Vinai is compared to Levy but Vinai is by all accounts not setting out to be Levy who does everything himself. He seems to want to delegate to the people employed to do those bits.

This is not meant as some sort of vote of confidence for the man. Just that I think that the transfer windows should be more directly placed on Lange given that those are his duties to oversee.

Its all hollow words, not substance

Simply a puff piece, imo

Ill hope to be proven wrong over time, I hope he actually does know what hes doing and really does make us that singular sporting entity he speaks of

But right now that reads as empty words, PR, from a clueless gnome desperate to improve his image

As you point out though - he has actually made one or two actual statements, so come the end of the window we'll have an idea if hes as much of a fraud as I think he is

So anything he said eseentially can be written off a hollow words or a puff piece. Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't.

Totally agree.

Right now, yes. Based on everything that has come before to date - its a completely fair position

Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't.

Not at all, as I said "Ill hope to be proven wrong over time, I hope he actually does know what hes doing and really does make us that singular sporting entity he speaks of"

If he "does" then not damned, then fair fucking play to him, then he builds some credit with us

If he "doesnt" - then too fucking right, damn the cunt to hell :franklol:

Is it any surprise that whoever came in during the last days of Levy had to deal with a complete disaster behind the scenes on the football side???

Agreed. Vinai has clearly not done a brilliant job in his first year in charge but there was always going to be chaos once Levy got ousted.

He's not wrong when he says that things essentially need to be rebuilt from the ground up. If he is the guy who should be trusted to helm that job is another discussion but he is not wrong in saying that.

I'm quite impressed with his interview tbh. At least he's putting his bollocks on the line and not hiding away from the serious issues he's inherited. He's calling a spade a spade and highlighting the shite, lazy, spursy culture that's been festering for years.

I especially like the fact he's openly stated that this upcoming transfer window is critical, rather than trying to dampen expectations with stuff like 'we cannot spend what we do not have' bullshit we heard from his predecessor.

I have more confidence going in to this window than I've had for years.

Finishing above us 4 seasons on the trot? Finishing 5th and 4th while we had 2 back to back 17ths. Things like that.

Momentum carried us up to 2019, we still had good players from when we signed good players circa 2004 to 2015. But they then started to get old and we didnt replace them. Kane and Son then kept it semi respectable until around 3 years ago.

Our 2 consecutive worst seasons in our history didnt happen by chance. This is years of neglect.

for four seasons prior to the 2018/19 season we finished above Liverpool. They weren't in regression; they were rebuilding properly and went from that to a period of near dominance.

Villa finishing 4th when we have two seasons of unprecedented injuries and two or three of the worst league managers we've ever seen at the club isn't the flex you're putting it as. Literally every surviving PL club finished above us in the last 2 seasons, but yet I wouldn't start gushing about Everton or Fulham.

Surely you cant believe this mess is some injuries and bad managers? I mean they havent helped but this has been coming down the tracks for years. If you let good players get old or leave and replace them with poor players, if you appoint bad managers and DoF if you just take it for granted you'll be top 6 or 7 then it gets you here. Add in a general improvement elsewhere and its left us looking out of date and out of touch. Not sure you can say we've been rebuilding anything over 3,4, 5 years.

The club needs continuity in terms of it's football identity and culture. From now on we must never go back to hiring managers or coaches that play turgid, pragmatic style football. The fans of course want to win but the soul of this club is based on entertaining attacking football

If they stick to this everything else will fall into place.

Agree with the point about utilising his bollocks.....he's talking with them.
