Ex-Spurs Player Brennan Johnson

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

He couldn't have done worse than RKM on the right tbf, but yeah he was absolute gash this season and playing in this team for another 6 months would've probably shaved 10m off his value. Doesn't remotely surprise me that he's flopped at Palace - he's a player that basically needs a system built around him like Ange did in order to get the best out of him, and he's nowhere near talented enough to justify that.

Selling him was absolutely the right move - the problem was not replacing him after the Kudus injury.

It wasn't the right move unless we bought someome in who would be expected to bring goals. We didn't.

It was a disgraceful decision because it very nearly cost us, given.how few gosls our so called attackers got in the period between then and Sunday.

Skin of teeth survival that would have been less likely with someone who scored us some goals

Johnson's record at Palace so far is irrelevant.

That’s the long and short of it but we’d now be looking to move him on and don’t need to. I was delighted we sold him, it was the right move but it highlighted our transfer policy perfectly. It’s a mess. It was mad not to buy an upgrade. That alone should have been enough to get Lange the sack yesterday.

Incredibly bad footballer and has proved that even more since he’s left us. How can a wide player not score a goal in half of a season? We got rid of him and replaced him with Muani. Between them - 0 goals in 5 months😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

We weren’t escaping relegation on the last day when he was playing for us and scoring goals. We were winning a trophy.

Or when Ange was managing us.

Or when Levy was running us.

Just saying.

Lmao what does any of this even mean.

We were 17th with Johnson. The only reason we weren’t escaping relegation on the final day was because the competition for relegation last season was hilariously bad. Last seasons points tally gets us fucking relegated. We weren’t playing in the EL this season so irrelevant second point.

Same thing. The tally Ange got sees us go down. He was just fucking lucky the competition was the shite promoted sides.

Levy BUILT THIS TEAM. It’s his squad!

Johnson is fucking shit. You can’t admit it. Palace fans think he’s dreadful. He stunk the joint out there and was a smelly turd before we sold him too.

He is capable of one thing: rocking up at the back post for a tap in. When he can’t do that you’re down to 10 men.

Think he was a club signing and Glasner's been forced to shoe-horn him in.

Whether he has a future at Palace long term will come down to whoever their next manager is.

In other words you don't know.

It's never about a manager wanting a player and struggling to get the best out of someone.

Such retrospective claptrap, unless you know different, and that's not on you but all ppsters who write similar.

By the time we sold him he had 14 EPL games without a goal or assist.
Plus 3 games where he was not used.

Yea... missing that kind of goal machine truly cost us. Imagine all the goals he wouldn't have scored for us.

Player we replaced him with for same money - Gallagher- did score 1 and assist 1 with 2nd half of the season. Exactly matching the Johnson goal contributions.

I do agree -we should have tapped into market for a winger with goal & assist threat - but it is totally absurd and 100% fantasy that Johnson would have been our savior if he stayed on. He contributed nothing. And would have kept contributing nothing.
It is game of stupid what-ifs and I can as realistically claim that using Spence on RW for 2nd half of the season would have given us much more than keeping Johnson.

We sold Johnson, a player who a useless manager got nothing out of and didn't replace him. It was fcuking stupid.

We got away with it.

The argument about recouping money and what he has done at Palace is not the point.

I mean it really isn't a difficult point I am seeking to make.

And the imbeciles are still running the asylum.

Additionally, Frank may well be shit, but his ability to get performances out of forwards is hardly poor. He got lots of goals out of Wissa, Mbeumo etc.

Brennan’s just rubbish. Stop the cap.

Glasner isn’t useless and apparently also can’t get anything out of him .. maybe the common denominator (brennans lack of any footballing ability) is the problem?

Are you deliberately misding my point?

It's not about Johnson per se but the recklessness of not bringing in a player expected to score goals.

I don't give a sh!t about Johnson at Palace, other than thinking it his good that he is open about needing to improve.

We sold a player that provided absolutely nothing this season.
And was a main attacking threat for a side that finished 17th season before too.

Selling him was never a mistake, but I think everyone agree that we could have brought in (and still need to) bring in a winger though. Still does not make selling this coward of a player that contributes nothing to the buildup a mistake.

Yeah we should’ve bought someone. Selling him was the 100% right move though. We left palace with a stinky turd.
