He couldn't have done worse than RKM on the right tbf, but yeah he was absolute gash this season and playing in this team for another 6 months would've probably shaved 10m off his value. Doesn't remotely surprise me that he's flopped at Palace - he's a player that basically needs a system built around him like Ange did in order to get the best out of him, and he's nowhere near talented enough to justify that.
Selling him was absolutely the right move - the problem was not replacing him after the Kudus injury.
It wasn't the right move unless we bought someome in who would be expected to bring goals. We didn't.
It was a disgraceful decision because it very nearly cost us, given.how few gosls our so called attackers got in the period between then and Sunday.
Skin of teeth survival that would have been less likely with someone who scored us some goals
Johnson's record at Palace so far is irrelevant.
We weren’t escaping relegation on the last day when he was playing for us and scoring goals. We were winning a trophy.
Or when Ange was managing us.
Or when Levy was running us.
Just saying.

Think he was a club signing and Glasner's been forced to shoe-horn him in.
Whether he has a future at Palace long term will come down to whoever their next manager is.

By the time we sold him he had 14 EPL games without a goal or assist.
Plus 3 games where he was not used.
Yea... missing that kind of goal machine truly cost us. Imagine all the goals he wouldn't have scored for us.
Player we replaced him with for same money - Gallagher- did score 1 and assist 1 with 2nd half of the season. Exactly matching the Johnson goal contributions.
I do agree -we should have tapped into market for a winger with goal & assist threat - but it is totally absurd and 100% fantasy that Johnson would have been our savior if he stayed on. He contributed nothing. And would have kept contributing nothing.
It is game of stupid what-ifs and I can as realistically claim that using Spence on RW for 2nd half of the season would have given us much more than keeping Johnson.
We sold Johnson, a player who a useless manager got nothing out of and didn't replace him. It was fcuking stupid.
We got away with it.
Glasner isn’t useless and apparently also can’t get anything out of him .. maybe the common denominator (brennans lack of any footballing ability) is the problem?

The argument about recouping money and what he has done at Palace is not the point.
I mean it really isn't a difficult point I am seeking to make.
And the imbeciles are still running the asylum.
Are you deliberately misding my point?
It's not about Johnson per se but the recklessness of not bringing in a player expected to score goals.
I don't give a sh!t about Johnson at Palace, other than thinking it his good that he is open about needing to improve.
Doesn’t make what I posted any less of a factWe had less points last season. We weren't escaping relegation because the teams that got relegated were much worse.
