NOT SO EASY WHEN THE REFS AND THE OFFICIALS DON'T GIVE YOU A FUCKING FREEBIE EVERY GAME IS IT YOU SOUTH LONDON CHEATS.

:avbfu:

Now they know what we've had to put up with for every single fucking game this season.

(Had to get that off my chest)
They scored from a handball, Saka doublehanded it in their penalty box and Mosquera was not given a second yellow even though it was extremely obvious he should have had one...they were just too fucking shit to win despite all that going their way.

I’m guessing you’re under 40, am I right? From the 1960s through to the 1990s, the Cup Winners’ Cup was most definitely a major European trophy and the second-ranked of the European trophies throughout.
Old enough to have watched a couple of finals and old enough to remember it getting scrapped. To argue it was a major European trophy is to argue the Charity Shield is a major domestic trophy.

UEFA disagrees. Back in the day only a small number of teams got into the European Cup and UEFA. I'd say the CWC was of a similar level of prestige as the UEFA, even if a few random teams crept in.

Now the Inter City Fairs Cup, and Intertoto - they were proper shit.

I’m not “arguing” anything.

The Cup Winners Cup simply *was* a major European trophy, it was the second-ranked out of three major European trophies.

No-one has ever regarded the Charity Shield as a major trophy, it’s a one-off season-opener, so completely irrelevant (unless you were discussing the Super Cup, which you aren’t).
