MGW is an excellent player, not sure where he fits though.
Could equally be a Baleba or someone as well..

MGW would be signing a player they like more than signing a player they need.
We need goals though. He creates a lot of goals as well.
He has everything, would be a fantastic signing for the club
Get a striker for him to assist and it's "one giant step" for Spurs...
In all seriousness, I think signing MGW is a massive statement, the sort of thing that holds real consequences
Because its not a "we're strengthening an obvious weakness" move, like getting a Leao/Rashford type could be seen as.
Its a "Maddison is done / we want a different #10 / Gallagher is 100% a squad player / we are going big on an area that isnt top priority" move....
In a lot of ways, its seismic
Also - still raises questions
- Is the club still blindly going for old targets?
- Is the move lead by RDZ?
And when all is said and done, considering the new contract, are we prepared to try and deal with Marinakis?
I know John has his funny ways but I do think he's right about this. There is no reason whatsoever Tottenham can't set about a project that can bring the likes of Adam Wharton to the club. You just have to pay the wages and sell the journey. And, most of all - be fucking serious about it.
The last one is the most crucial part. And it's clearly what Romero was sold at the end of last season - only to watch as we brought in Thomas Frank, West Ham's 3rd best player and two loan signings (and Simons after we failed to get MGW over the line). There's all sorts of excuses why that Transfer Window didn't go to plan but the major one is simple: we are not a serious Club.
Well, now we have De Zerbi and the Club seems to have been shocked out of its complacency. I'm sure Wharton is eyeing off CL and league title chases but if we're serious then we can show him a plan to achieve those in the very near future and sell him as being at the heart of that project.
The question is: do we want to be a serious club?
It is reported that Lazio have been tracking Sergi Dominguez for a while and were readying an offer worth circa €5m after intensive talks with the player’s entourage.
However, with Spurs entering the fray, that price tag is already soaring and likely to be well beyond Lazio’s capabilities.

I don't have a problem with thinking who we can or cannot attract at this club but the thing that people like him keep on missing is that players have agency and preferences so from Wharton's point of view why would he want to sign for Spurs when he can practically have his pick of most clubs on the planet? He isn't in a hurry to leave Palace at the moment and he's most likely want to follow Olise's, Guehi's and Eze's steps.
This isn't putting us down, this is called being realistic and John Thomas knows this but we have this every window with him, it's such a boring argument man.
All that sounds good and well until a bigger club with more money and success shows up and gives him a much better plan.
Big clubs don’t think like this.
They go full blooded and do everything they can to get their top target.
When you do that, players get intrigued.
