Bayern will have a role to play here if what we're offering (which we should) is just another season on loan versus Sporting wanting to buy outright.

This sucks. It's very clear what the squad needs, but it is in direct conflict with what De Zerbi seems to want. There's no good answer there.
Do we know how much Sporting are prepared to pay? I can’t imagine it’s massive amounts

I seriously doubt they'd go over €10 million for a player his age, and that only because he is a fan favourite. Most likely, they're waiting to see how things go with us and, should we pull out, start the bidding with a loan + buy option offer. If we're really interested, I'm fairly certain we could get him for €15 million tops, as Bayern seem really keen on offloading him.

With Twattenberg's comments about Vuskovic, it clear Munichs target is him.

BThat big club comment was clearly about Munich.

Munich are just a cunt club.

I'm sorry to rain on this parade but no way is Wharton coming here...he will be free to pick and choose...maybe once we've rebuilt and look much better there might possibly be a chance...

But at the start of this season you thought we were a good chance of finishing Top 3? :cautious:

All jokes aside you're missing the point. If our Board want to be "serious" there is nothing stopping them from convincing an Adam Wharton type that they are going to do what it takes to go all the way. Just as City did with Pep and Manicini before him.

All it takes is money and convincing players/agents that you're serious.

I think De Zerbi is a very good start to that. The rest is up to the Board.

Edit: just to add an "Adam Wharton" type is not anything like, say, Haaland when he was leaving Dortmund. Obviously we aren't in the conversation for those kinds of signings. But Wharton plays for Palace, isn't even in the World Cup squad. He's the exact type we should be going to and saying "We'll give you the platform so show you're elite - and PAY you well for it".

That's what it takes.

"If" being the operative word...We've seen nothing to suggest any changes....yet!

Rather than a loan, I presume we’ll offer a reduced amount and see if they bite. If we know Palinha is committed to staying at Spurs, it puts us in a strong position. Lord knows clubs have done similar to us.

Seeking to seal Palhinha's signature signifies mid-table acceptance in my opinion, which is quite sobering.

Depends really, he's a good player that played in a awful team. Be interesting to see what he could do with a better 8 and maddison In there with him

Alternatively he could be a depth signing taking bissoumas spot or sarr should he leave too with a more dream hipster signing like Baleba coming in also

Alternatively you could be right and we sign him for 20 million plus and we line up with a midfield of palhinha bentancur and maddison first game of the season ....which I could very much see TBF
:langetroll:
