No thanks on 1 season wonder Harry Wilson who has Charlie Adam vibes minus the flab.
Oh I agree. Hes a scorer of great goals more than a great goalscorer and up and down. I’m moreso pointing out the grim situation we are in, that even a 29-year old purple patch attacker like Wilson would be an upgrade. However, he is on a free and has “PL experience”… that will interest ENIC mightily. I have made my peace with the fact that the calibre of player we’ll be able to sign this summer is not going to be a high one.

Savinho has more chance of being another Tel than the player we actually need.

Hovering over the same mediocre targets as last season just shows these fuckers haven’t got a Scooby!

I am always open to being convinced by most players. I don't rate Kudus for example and had similar reservations over the Solanke signing, but for different reasons. I'm still jury out on Kudus and Solanke can not be our numero uno striker, or we are in trouble.

Savinho looked really bright when he first arrived at City, and it's possible that it is simply a matter of confidence being drained as a result of not playing regularly. I don't know.

But any signing (and let's wait for a deal if it happens), presumably will receive De Zerbi's backing and if not, we will soon hear about it and we know which way it will end.

There are a couple of factors

Availability being a major one. A player 'techinically' worse than Richy, but available all season would actually be an upgrade

Then theres the profile side of things - does Richy suit what RDZ really wants (ultimately I think not). And so hence, again, a 'techincally' worse player, but better suited = also an upgrade

Richarlison is done, doesnt have it physically - and ultimately isnt really a striker RDZ would use for anything other than an off the bench bundle a goal option

On which basis, Id think there should be plenty of improvements out there - even if they arent explicitly "better" or "exciting"
Richarlison and Solanke had pretty good injury records before we signed them. No guarantee a new signing will be available more than them

Given the links to Van Hecke, the deals with Senesi & Robertson and talks about another GK, is it possible that the plan* could be to build from the back?

I.e. invest in the back 5 and potentially a new midfielder who can get the ball off them and pass it forward, persist with most of the same midfielders we've got now trusting RDZ can get them playing better and maybe 2/3 attacking signings (spread across out wide and up top) but no blockbuster ones with an eye on improving and competing further up the table this season, confidence hopefully up, players have a season with RDZ and then we start going for big signings in midfield next season, improve further and then invest in the attack.

If we had actual competence in the football side of the club and it was stated that was the plan what would people think?

*It must be stated that believing there's a any semblance of a plan requires you to ignore the evidence of what's actually happened so far.

I know, but - we KNOW Richarlison is a perma crock, has been for 4 years

Solanke Im 50/50 as to whether he can stay fit again

on balance between them I think Solanke is the better footballer, and on the basis we arent likely to buy 2 strikers, Id keep him over Richarlison as back up

And then hope like fuck the new striker is a) good and b) stays fit

That's got to be miss information, that list isn't even quite relegation battle level considering west ham went down with Bowen and Summerville

Surely ENIC can't role the dice again with survival. But knowing the high genius levels in that boardroom they probably think, get in some cheap players now because ultimately we'll have kulu and Xavi back soon to fill out the left and right wing anyways :langetroll:

Wilson is older but he would have kept us up by about 9 points last season. He has real end product. Would immediately be our most dangerous attacker with Kudus crocked. (And I don’t even particularly rate him that highly)
Very funny how we are now linked with Harry Wilson. I remember we drew 1-1 at home to fulham last year during our injury crisis and fans were going all in abusing Ange. I remember stating that Fulham had better subs on the bench than us that day and used Harry Wilson as a prime example. I was laughed off the thread with multiple posters calling me an idiot for suggesting Harry Wilson would get into our team. This came at a time when we were starting Johnson, Werner and a 17 year old Mikey Moore on the wings.

Does anyone remember this? Funny how things change.
