We don’t need “backups” especially for someone who has had a major injury.

We can’t say 17th back2back is unacceptable and not focus all our energy towards improving the first XI. And when you improve the first XI? The bench improves naturally as a result.

If we get back to Poch era levels, then you can focus on bringing in the Lucas Moura’s and Llorente’s.

Write this in bold letters and print it in the wall where they erased the picture of Brennan Johnson winning the Europa League

I don’t dislike the guy like some on here but Gallagher in January really screwed over the squad balance. We’ve been crying out for a passing midfielder for years now, why we decided to buy an upgrade on the type of player we already have plenty of is beyond me.

We’ve got so many holes it’ll be interesting to see what they address, and how urgently. Guaranteed the window will close with us still being short in numerous positions.
yup lots of technical holes in that midfield, but i think Sarr will go this summer, along with Bissouma so we have to replace them with something more fitting for RDZ's football.

Gallagher one of the hero's of the relegation scrap, imo. We have the ultimate presser in him now so we just need to give him team mates that support his hard work through progression and creativity with the ball.

I agree with you. They should be trying to make exactly the sort of signings you mention.

Do you believe them though? I know I don't. It's just lip service at season ticket renewal time.

Robertson, Senesi, and Savinho are all sensible signings IMO. Are they the sort of signings that propel us to top four again? Probably not.

I don’t believe them, not one Spurs fan should believe them.

Thats exactly why the expectations should be kept high. Lowering what’s expected of them just allows them to slide out of it again

Signing Palinha permanently would be exactly the same as well.

When you look at it, theyve really made a mess of the squad havent they?

Yea out of all the midfielder Sarr seems the one most likely to go. Can’t see the club selling either Bergval or Grey , and didn’t we just renew Bentancur contract in November? Bissouma being out of contract creates a space.

Then we’ve got all our ‘younger’ players on loan in the championship.

for me it’s a very hard window to navigate . Still don’t know the extent of Kudus injury , will kulu ever play again , Madison cannot be relied on with his fitness record , Xavi not back till late February , odobert Back December. Richi has to be sold , obviously kolo Muani has left , we’ve now only got a fit Tel and Solanke when he can be bothered . We can’t do what we did last season and just rely on players coming back , we’ve need full surgery in the attacking part of the squad yet we could have 2 or 3 returning in the 2nd half of the season.
Kudus had surgery a few weeks ago so the club should know his recovery window (even if they won’t share with us fans). The way I see it we cannot count on Kulu, Simons, Odobert for the start of the season. Plus Richy needs to be sold and Tel is not good enough right now to be considered a starter. So we need a new CF, at least 2 new WFs and a new #10 as a minimum. That’s on top of a new GK and a new CM.

One reason I don’t think Bergvall will be loaned out is that he won’t be counted as club trained by UEFA unless he’s with us this season coming. Then he’ll be club-trained forever!

yeah we will keep Bergvall & Gray. They will become home grown and club trained by the end of the season, so they will stay as that will help moving forward with European registration (one assumes that will be a consideration for us over the next 2 seasons).

Need an Angelo Stiller in there.

I can see Gallagher continuing at the #10 for a while, especially if we do get those WF

It was the last 5 games of last season

When pep finally opened up his style after fuckig it up for the first 3/4s of the season

It was not, he was on form the early part of the season, tailed off in the middle and then hit ridiculous heights towards the end and even if that is the benchmark of him doing it over the last 5 matches then I don't see what difference it makes anyway.

Highest amount of successful dribbles
99th pct for xga
99th pct for key passes per 90
90th pct for successful crosses
90th pct for goal involvements

Best winger in the league last season as well bar none - not including Gordon because his stats are skewed as he played as a striker as well.

Wharton and Morgan Rogers came from the championship.

I find this snobbery baffling

Hackney IMO was the best player in the division
Snobbery lols

Have a look at my posts regarding Wharton when he was at Blackburn. I said we should go for him immediately and I was sold on him.

We need established players now if we're going to at least attempt to do something different then previous seasons. If people still can't see that then I understand why cretins like Lange/Vinai do what they do.

He’s the one who had a pretty substantial injury last summer isn’t he? Recovered well?

Sliiightly different though let’s be fair here…

Rodgers came through City’s academy and spent one season in the Championship before being snapped up immediately.
Wharton was only a kid when he was bought from Blackburn and he was earmarked for massive things straight away.

Is Hackney a tidy serviceable midfielder? Absolutely. But we already have an absolute bucketload of them.
He is also a relatively small “tidy” midfielder in comparison to Rodgers/Wharton and would find the step up to PL massive IMO, which is probably a big reason no PL has taken a gamble on him yet.

Rogers is the standout midfielder. Big concerns over Wharton. Carrick-light.

I don't think so, there's a dearth of players with his kind of profile (prog passer/ball carrier) he would stand out, I don't see the difference in him and Wharton because Wharton was getting similar underlying numbers in the Championship to Hackney, you could clearly see his talent just like you can clearly see Hackney's

This was the previous season:

There's a snobbery because he plays in the Championship and he's 23 years old, if this kid was playing in Spain this fanbase would be all over him.
