We are nowhere near as close to those teams as this graphic suggests.

I can't confirm this, but I've heard a finance "expert" suggest the favourable rates Levy got on the stadium finance were based on us having a low wage to revenue ratio.
So we have to keep it low now or risk refinancing at a higher rate.
Yeah, or ENIC can put their hands in their pockets and actually spend a portion of their astronomical paper gain on the team!

Are these the banking covenants so beloved of Simon Jordan? I don't doubt such things exist, but they aren't the end of the discussion in financing the team.

And yes, Levy has thrown away millions not getting us a stadium sponsor. His defence that THS was perhaps commercially better for the club was wholly unsubstantiated, at odds with practice across global sport, and frankly laughable.

I was actually in favour of sacking Poch as he'd clearly lost the will to be here. But I suspect it was driven at least in part by Levy having a hard on for Mourinho for years.
He then assumes Mourinho can win trophies with Joe Rodon and Matt Doherty. Then sacks him before a cup final anyway.

Tired of revisionist acting like Mourinho wasn't backed. Mourinho said he didn't need players, all the squad needed was him.

Sacking him before a cup final was stupid.

I think most successful sides are as lucky, if not more, than they are good. Liverpool never become the side rhey did if Barcelona doesn't vastly overpay for Coutinho.

Its easy to discount things as luck, call Dele a punt, etc. But Dier played a big part in those squads, he wasn't a punt. Dembele was the engine, he wasn't a punt - he was a misfit at Fulham no one knew how to use. The foundation of those teams was Toby and Jan - neither were punts. Son is one of the best players to ever wear the shirt - he was our joint record signing at the time and (racist) supporters complained we'd only signed him because of his ethnicity.

The team was all built on the bedrock from buying and selling Bale and Modric, 2 of our most expensive signings at the time they joined. And a dozen other deals where we bought low and sold high (remember Wimmer?!).

Anyway, glad Levy is gone but I think your post goes too far in implying the Poch squad was built put of pure luck. It was the culmination of a lot of work, by a lot of people, many not named Levy, over many years. There was a measure of fortune - but there often is.

Yes, the covenants have been a thing since day 0. Pretty normal.

"We'll lend you at a good rate because you are good with money. If you get reckless, the risk will increase and so will the rate"

You're so naive it's actually rather cute.🫠

Have you ever wondered why no other big club has decided on this master plan. Or why he specifically employed some bod who's one job was to secure a naming rights deal....

Honestly. Your devotion to defending this man in each and every circumstance comes across as unhealthy. I've never seen anything like it.
Agreed, an unhealthy fixation is an obsessive consuming preoccupation with a person or idea that inevitably causes harm to a person's mental well-being.

It often traps individuals in a cyclical loop of temporary dopamine hits and long term avoidance, hindering personal growth and healthy emotional coping.

Navigating a fixation requires identifying what is driving the behaviour and taking deliberate steps to stop the cycle....or so AI tells us.

Hey Shady , you won’t find me sticking up for the Lewis clan . Hopefully our flirting with disaster will have shocked them into action , however firstly I doubt it and secondly I have

Well perspective is needed, you can complain about the lack of Stadium naming rights but we still don't have one, we lost one of our key long term sponsors back in Feb and we've lost 40% of Sponsorship value of our front of shirt sponsorship, all since he's left - we need to think about that.

What are they doing to Alonso ?
Doing bullshit briefings about who stays and who goes before he's even had his first training sessions.

They said that the mcflurry guy they got in as interim from hackney marshes will stay on as a coach so he doesn't even get to pick his backroom staff it seems. Also saying he has to keep players like Tosin as part of some bullshit leadership group that he didn't even get to pick.

Signing terrible players as well like that Barco guy that played for Brighton and gave a contract to a kid called Justin Osagie. Check out the teams he's played for and been released from.

As I said the naming rights ship has sailed long ago , unless we get a City type owner . People advertise in a far more savvy way now . Not saying they have been any good , but the rot set in a long time ago. Hard to argue we have not been on a downward trajectory for quite sometime .

Think we need to hope we fluke a few decent buys and a couple of youngsters progress

Financially due to our decreasing sponsor revenue we haven't, this is new.

Our sponsors clearly see two 17th place finishes as unacceptable, Levy got away with the first because of Bilbao giving CL qualification. He has overseen shocking recruitment and high level hires. Furthermore did he hire Frank , I will say yes and I assume you will say no

Well he wasn't responsible for sacking Ange so there's that and I'm pretty sure he would have sacked way before Feb, like he did Nuno regardless.

Ange managed to get us into the CL so it made us for the shortfall of the first year anyway,

The stadium non-sponsor logic is unquantifiable as the royal family making more than they cost.
Just because someone says it over and over doesn't make it true at all.
