Player Mohammed Kudus

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Did alright as a RW also, by my recollection... Maybe he's part of the answer to the RW/Kudus depth issue?
I was always under the impression, when he arrived, that Odobert was a predominantly left winger who could cover on the right. Then this season he probably had his best run of games playing off the right, so maybe he's not best off the left after all?

It does slightly muddy the waters in terms of squad planning given the injuries. We obviously need a first choice left sided player, but if we buy a second guy, which side do we prioritise? Probably need someone who can play both sides tbh

I always thought he was a right wing option tbh.

Will they all return, that’s the question

I think he thinks he's a left winger, but there's nothing about him that really supports that notion.

He's not tricky enough, or fast enough to cause fullbacks problems from there, and he doesn't cut in and shoot to any kind of effect either. So despite looking relatively neat and tidy, he offers nothing of substance from that position.

From the right he can go outside and put a cross in with his strong foot without having to create the extra separation that he would need on the left.

The Robben blind spot of thinking every winger is more dangerous on their weaker side eg left footers on the right and vice versa. In some cases, for goal threat / wide forwards this works perfectly eg Son, but for others with different skills, they should be going outside and putting balls into the box
Robben and Bale, everyone wants to copy them without spending a moment to consider that they were both absolutely rapid which was a huge factor in their effectiveness.

Both were also actually very good playing on their stronger sides too, whereas now you have players who actively can't play on their strong side.

:frankfacepalm:

Yeah, you have to be bloody good to pull off that weaker side thing. It is devastating if the player can shoot.

Well when he first came into the team he played on the right and looked a bit timid and underwhelming, so the narrative then was oh he's better off the left. Almost all his goals and assists the previous season for Burnley were when he was playing off the left, so it was kind of a natural assumption to make.

I think the issue with him is he lacks the personality and conviction required to be effective cutting in off the left and take shots - which is the real benefit of a left-sided right footer. On the right, as you say, he can always default to going outside and putting a cross in at least.

Funnily enough his preferred position is actually a 10 - that's where he's said he enjoys playing most.

Spot on. He’s terrible. If he was one of our kids we’d probably just give him a pass. cunt cost 25 mill.
Had that Odobert crap already, then only went and spent 40 on his wee French pal Tel, who's also bang average. And now, what we gonna do? Spank another 40 or 50 on friggin Savinho. Fuck my life.

Spurs gonna Spurs. They think that 3 x 40mil players is like having a 120 mil superstar. They just don't learn.
