We have now officially opened discussions regarding a deal for Adam Wharton. A deal we tried to do last summer and made further moves last January, he’s a long standing target.

Crystal Palace’s valuation is understood to be around £85 million slightly higher than our initial expectations but we are prepared to push the deal aggressively and are willing to exceed our original expectations on fee.

The club views the addition of a top-class deep-lying playmaker as a crucial part of this summer’s rebuild, and there is a strong belief internally that there are very few Premier League-proven midfielders who can match Wharton’s passing range, composure and ability to dictate the tempo of a game - he would be game changing.

Savinho and Van Hecke being worked upon and hope to be done before the weekend closes, Senesi and Robertson all but announced.Spurs are serious this summer!

Tough one with Kinsky. He’ll feel that he earned the job with his performances at the end of the season, but it also isn’t a large sample. If Vic goes, competition should be brought in. Don’t know if I’d go with another young keeper though.

It is a tough one on Kinsky, Id be happy to give him the shirt and see how he does

However, Vicario is clearly going - so we do need somone in

Raises questions on who, another young GK to compete? Or a Fraser Forster type benchwarmer?

Van Hecke's a good player his main strength being how good he is on the ball. He's not a bad defender either tbf plays a lot like Romero more aggressive but he can stay back when he needs to as well and with someone like VDV he can go and push up a bit and have reliable cover so it wouldn't be an issue. He can also head the ball which is what we need since VDV and Senesi are really poor in the air.

But it's an obvious Romero replacement so he's as good as gone. It looks like we want to get this done before the world cup, we all know player fees go up after a player has a good tournament. I guess Brighton are willing to get it done before as well since he only has a year on his contract.

That's it, if RudolphN17 is saying this might as well get in touch with the Chinese sweatshop and ask them to add Wharton onto the order that I should be receiving in 2-3 weeks then!

No :frankreally:

Ornsteins piece :vinai:

Tottenham Hotspur have made an offer to sign defender Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton & Hove Albion.
The proposal for the 25-year-old fell short of Brighton’s valuation, but talks continue.
Van Hecke is close to Tottenham head coach Roberto De Zerbi from their time working together at Brighton from 2022 to 2024.

In April, Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler said he expected to talk to Van Hecke about his future, with the Dutchman’s contract expiring in June 2027. The Athletic reported earlier this week that Van Hecke had so far shown no interest in extending his deal and was one of three Brighton players, alongside compatriot Bart Verbruggen and midfielder Carlos Baleba, that are candidates for a big sale this summer.

Van Hecke has been named in the Netherlands squad for the 2026 World Cup and played 87 minutes of Wednesday’s 1-0 friendly defeat by Algeria in Rotterdam. He has been capped 11 times by his country.

The centre-back first joined Brighton in 2020 from Dutch side NAC Breda and has had loan spells at Heerenveen and Blackburn Rovers before beginning to establish himself in the Brighton first team in the 2022-23 season. He has made 131 appearances for Brighton, with 106 of those coming in the Premier League.

Last season, Van Hecke was a mainstay in Fabian Hurzeler’s back four, starting 36 Premier League games and missing only two due to injury.

In addition to Spurs’ pursuit of Van Hecke, the club are set to sign Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi on a four-year deal. The 29-year-old’s contract at the south-coast club is due to expire this summer, and he is now expected to complete a move to north London.

Its not very long :franklol:

Who the hell is that rudolph guy, reliable?

Wharton?

Im throbbing

:dierno:

He'd tell you he was reliable, and probably throbbing too - but he is a twitter BS merchant

Wharton would be a real statement buy, no doubt about it

And if he proved a good buy for us, an absolute gamechanger

I have to say though I have reservations on him (obviously should we get him - Id hope to be proven completley wrong)

Kinsky has earned the job - (1) First rate distribution, (2) World class saves and (3) Elite mental strength/resilience.

He is THE MAN - Let's not overthink this.
