Decent profit on Nacer Chadli too, iirc.Trippier as well.
Bentaleb, Townsend and Mason were all good sales.

That was regrettable sale tbh.
We bought Lamela from the Bale money to provide that, instead he spent seven seasons here only good enough to regularly warm the bench. That was regrettable sale tbh.
Yes we almost double on his value, but if we kept him for 2016-17, he provides the quality depth we so badly lacked in attack.
With Chadli’s penchant for timely goals alà Origi, Trossard, Batshuayi Pedro, we could have done a domestic double that season.
A shame.
Chadli was part of the same group. We bought Lamela from the Bale money to provide that, instead he spent seven seasons here only good enough to regularly warm the bench.
You are right about our poor scouting and it is still happening today. Only Eriksen one of the cheaper acquisitions looked the part. It was evident that Lamela wasn’t good enough and we needed an upgrade. He lacked the finesse to keep possession of the ball, so he ran a lot kicking opponents to get it back. Poch didn’t change him into anything. There wasn’t enough quality in his play to work with. Poch’s great team of 16/17 needed a wide forward game changer off the bench. In the end the chavs often found a way to turn drawing games into wins, sadly it became the difference between finishing first and second.Chadli was part of the same group.
If they wanted a direct Bale replacement (impossible!) Lamela in particular was a bad scouting on Spurs’ part - surprise!
Lamela was always a better creator than finisher + Poch turned him into a pressing machine. 15/16 and calendar year of 2018 were his strongest periods at Spurs.
Thought towards the v end of his spell he started to realise his potential..funny it happens so often when a new contract in the breeze!!!We bought Lamela from the Bale money to provide that, instead he spent seven seasons here only good enough to regularly warm the bench.
Lamela was also injured for the majority of 16/17 so it didn’t help with our depth. You are right about our poor scouting and it is still happening today.
