Wasn't never expecting a "bargain" from City so let's hope it's a low base with a lot of incentives

If we pay 60 million for a bench warmer, and who isn't in an average Brazil squad for the World cup, then De Zerbi must see something that he believes he can really develop. Maybe for those who are old enough he borrowed Ray Miland's vision.

If Savinho has this talent ready to erupt, he has done a phenomenally good job of hiding it so far.

If he doesn't make it is a top performer in football, he should take up magic.

What do you think 60m gets you these days?

Need i remind you we spent 65m on Richarlison and 50m on BJ.
Savinho remains a better prospect than both of those when we signed them.

The hardest part about progressing from youth football to senior football is that most 19 year olds are not physically strong enough but that is not the case with Vuskovic who is fully developed. Bergvale & Gray are developing well and are not shit. However Vuskovic is a class above them. He has excelled in Germany and after the season he has had there is already an International player. I cannot see how a loan to Spain or Italy will help and anywhere else is a downwood move. Some have suggested one of the promoted teams in the PL but why would they play him rather than the CB that got them promoted.

You say he has a contract to 2030, 4 years. If we let this year go and in the knowledge if he gets to the last year we would be forced to sell , that just leaves 2 years. You say he will sign an extension but why with big clubs interested. We need to get him indoctrinated into the Spurs club so he wants to stay. That will never happen on loan all that will do is show him what it is like in other leagues.

What’s strange about this whole saga is that all the “noise” that’s attributed to his camp seems to suggest that the player himself sees a loan as the best thing for his development - whether that’s to play with his brother or not it’s not clear.

There’s a lot of hype around “big” clubs “monitoring him”, but from what I’ve seen the statements from him / his camp all seems pretty sensible and that no decision will be taken till after the WC.

Spurs paid a lot of money for someone his age…?£12m - they don’t do that unless they are invested big time in his potential.

I think if he goes on loan again they’ll tie him to a new contract first, but if he is reticent to do that, the club will cash in - that will cost big money though.

Win-win for the club I guess.

Personally I think a loan to a club in Spain / Italy / Prem would be best, and then next summer we sell Danso and he slots straight in.

When you look a his peers from this season he is superior in every way to any other in the Bundesliga and Tuchel would have taken him with the England squad had he been English .

He was nominated for player of the season, and made the Bundesliga team of the season.

And before anyone bellows that the Bundesliga lacks quality of teams, I would ask why are so many clubs looking at him to add to their squads?

Twenty three, nineteen year old's made their PL debuts this season. I am not saying that they played week in week out, but they were considered good enough to debut, but for some reason Vuskovic isn't?

The end of the day it's going to be interesting in what De Zerbi decides to do, but if Gray and Bergvall are considered good enough then Vuskovic leaves both of those in his slipstream.

I posted about this a while ago in the Newcastle thread. Definite change in strategy I think.

I think this is partly a knock-on impact of the conflict in the middle east.

It might even mean Man City seeking to sell their fringe squad players, to recoup some of their expenditure for 2 or 3 big money signings.

LIV golf is the biggest casualty so far, so this is maybe less surprising.

60 million is a ridiculously high price.

I'm not interested in what we paid for Richarlison or Johnson, and when Savinho out-scores and contributes more than both come back to me.

Prospect means nothing, until it is realised. Getting excited by a signing is fine, but the bloke has done next to nothing.

I have a few thoughts on it

£50m for a top player, with a year on their deal, its mental - but its also the market these days

But, also, van Hecke specifically - is a cheat code to de Zerbi-ball, how much is that worth?

And then yes, Romero + Dragusin out, can Hecke in - not bad business IMO

So to sum up, the 'cost is mental, but not bad business'.

Do you work at sittingonthefence.com per chance?

It is ironic to see all the transfer talk being on defenders and midfielders. We could all see, especially in the last games of the season, the defence wasn't bad at all but if they conceded one, we had about as much hope of scoring an equaliser, much less a winner, as the second coming. Why are we not prioritising a goalscorer?
Because De Zerbi polished turds!

You can do that for a short period of time if you are skilful coach. But it won't last over time.

Romero, Porro, and Udogie can't defend for shit.

And i don't think it's a coincidence we are linked to a lot of defenders. It actually fills me with confidence, that we finally seems to do something about it.

They may not have a choice. MGW is contracted to June 2028, so 2 years left. If he doesn't extend further, then they'll only see his value drop significantly.

I feel that the fact he only extended for 1 year is indicative of him wanting out, and he only signed that extension under threat of legal action from the chubby Bubble. He's also missed out on a WC call up which, after his last season with Forest, MUST be making him think that his international aspirations would be better served at a bigger club.

IMO, the extension was just a stay of execution. Now, it's more a question of who he goes to rather than when.
I can definitely see Marinakis being someone who would keep MGW for two more years and let him walk as a FA than sell just to prove a point.
Yeah proud member of the Alex Crook is a cocky smug no nothing cunt fan club, always come back to this when Darragh MacAnthony firmly put the wanker in his place.

Alex Crook looks like someone who'd get caught in a sting operation to arrest pedos.
