Funny thing is Vuskovic is more of a goal threat and further advanced in any sort of development than Nusa and Bahoya together. Yet people want him to prove himself more on loan somewhere else and suggest to buy players we already have.

I'd rather let Moore develop than buying another inconsistent non threat. I can be on board for Savinho as he did it at least in Spain but otherwise, our links to offensive players are completely underwhelming.
This is spot on. The hype some of these players get is incredible. Then you look at their stats and its like 2 goals, 3 assists over a season at 21/22 years of age. Said it before but if Moore wasnt ours, or Vuskovic at 18 and 19 respectively fans would be doing somersaults if we were even so much as linked. Good stats, young players of the season, Vuskovic team of the season. But we're already onto wanting the next shiny new toy. Firmly in the buy quality or trust some of our own youngsters to fill squad places. Could add Devine as well.

A little google suggests hes on £55k a week at Fulham

Last big contract, on a free - Ill wager he'll want more than £70k

And itll still be more than he's worth

Which will still be an issue if we want to move him on
He can want it all he likes, but he's a 30 year old with one decent season on record.
Not sure who would pay it.
Newcastle maybe but hearing they're switching to lower age/wage players themselves.

Someone needs to work on their reading comprehension I see.
Not really. Modric not playing for a rival was a good thing such was his quality. Romero, not so much. How fearful should we be of extracting top dollar from them for a player who misses 2/5 matches over the course of five year? Nobody is gonna pay much more for him after the WC, he’s pretty well known as a player over a number of years.

Yer. Alot of people seems to either dislike him of find him very underwhelming. I make a habbit of not watching much of Liverpool so I dont really have a strong opinion.

Those stats are decent imo. I think we are definitely in the market for that profile of player. A wide player that can move and operate centrally in possession so he fits the bill in that regard.

Similar, I avoid watching Liverpool if possible, so dont know Gakpo well at all

But you mention profile, and I think thats the key

Johnsons stats were largely excellent, but he couldnt take on a man for love nor money - and without players playing him in he was useless

So the question for me would be more - what is RDZ looking for in a winger? Early indication suggests someone who can take people on 1 v 1 - and is Gakpo* THAT sort of player?

*Gakpo in this instance, but any winger linked really

Youre making my point for me

Why would WE want him?

Seems like the logic is "because he's free" - but even then Id rather not
Because our wide options are the pits. We are not spending 60m+ on 3 players but we probably could do 2 + Wilson on a free.

No one else in our attack has shown they can convert at the rate he did last season. Not sure how you get a similarly proven rotation option for the same outlay.

In past teams he likes to use 1 traditional type winger that holds width and on the other side and winger that makes moves and drifts centrally to recieve passes more centrally.

I mentioned in a previous post that RDZ deploys something which ive seen referred to as an offset box in midfield. So you have the 2x cms and then a no10 and somebody from wide who comes inside to make an offset box in the central area. This is the role greenwood was very good at, at marseille. He played wide but came central but could also do a ST role of runs in behind.

Id rather not lumber ourselves with bloat for a short term benefit.

Prefer to give a young player a shot

Tel can play on the right, is already in the squad, Id play him over Wilson

Sounds quite Gakpo too...

He is seen as world class on the continent and the World Cup will reaffirm that, it's only in the Premier League where his stock has dropped but IMO he hasn't been focused due to the shit circumstances at the club, not because he's a bad player.

Regardless of that my point was that we should be aiming to do a deal with teams abroad, sell him for cheaper as opposed to Utd, a focused Romero is a dangerous one and I'd rather have the headache of seeing him playing elsewhere even if we don't' get top dollar for him.

If we can £20m more from a premier league club, and at the same time, saddle them with a bad egg, I'm all in tbh.
Imagine Richarlison winding him up from minute one.

Richarlison or no Richarlison. 20 million pounds more for any player if sold to a PL club is good.

I have little doubt Romero would play better elsewhere, but so what.

As I said previously, now that we are contemplating bringing in new players, many posters are shrieking at the thought of selling some of those who have brought us consecutive 17th placed finishes.

Simply weird.

We tried unproven/youngsters last season and nearly got relegated

Its not permanent, its not the shape of the team all season - its for a couple of months

And thats if Kudus isnt fit, which yesterday was rumoured he would be

Id much prefer to give Tel a run of games than bring in Wilson to just bloat the squad

Wilson just seems pointless to me, doesnt move the needle at all - just saves up issues for later

Ignoring the OP because Odobert plays on a different wing to Akliouche but have to admit that I wasn’t expecting Odobert’s data to look that good against Akliouche.

Especially because he was playing under Frank

Odobert was beginning to look like a player, he is one Im excited to see what RDZ can do with.

If he can instill some confidence in him, he could really step up
