Dembele is about as rounded a player can be. Criminally wasted as a DM this and last season. Underused/appreciated IMO. The one time Dembele was used on the wing he looked really good, but only lasted a half because a damn DM got injured and he was dragged back into the pit of eternal stench. Being a DM for prem era Spurs is probably the worst position in world football. You get run so ragged you end up injured or puking on all fours like Sandro. Then get blamed for the wingers and strikers not getting goals and assists.

Haha well i'll eat my words there! Although I don't see Lamela as a natural winger, I think when we finally get to see him properly in action he'll have more in his locker than just pace, when he makes a break through in the team I reckon he could be a right nightmare for opposing defenses. Yeah such a shame, Dembele was such a beast pre injury our physio staff must be fucking clueless lol.

The problem here is the same problem we had last season, the left wing.
Rose will play well unto his abilities if he has a competent left winger in front of him. Look back unto the games in which Chadli played, he looked amazing. Not because he is a world class player, but, because he was played in his position and the player in the position for a team will take the unneeded burden off of other players.
I am all for bringing Dembele forward, I think he will excel there, however, I am against putting him on the left wing. With Townsend, Chadli or even Lamela (Anyone who is comfortable playing left wing) on the left wing Rose will have less to handle and handle his niche better because of it. Look at how good Walker looked when he was good, he had a competent right winger in front of him. Lennon brings out the best in Walker because of this, whether or not Lennon is the right player in that position is another thing.
Could not agree more. Rose's biggest obstacle last season was being consistently forced to face obtusely narrow triangles consisting of no left winger providing him a wide option and no CDM who would be situationally aware to present himself centrally in time before the scenario has quickly worsened for Rose. As such, we see the poor concessions and the quick release from opponents into space behind the high and slow back line a la the recent West Ham game that led to Kaboul getting a red.
