Starting line up in Tino's system

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

what do you guys think the line would be if we were to take our players and put them into Southampton formation and tactics. this isn't about form or whose the crowd favorite it's about fit. Basically who in our squad would play the role of each of the players in the Southampton starting line up. Example Lallana = Eriksen and Lovren = Vertonghen. If we don't have the type suggest a realistic player to fit the system.

It seems to me like Pochettino's way of football is more about the system than individual brilliance. We have some players who should start of course; Lloris, Vertonghen (if he's up for it), Eriksen and Lamela (hopefully), but I think Sherwood was right about one thing: We have a lot of players of quite similar quality. The starting line-up will depend on who's willing to play the way MP wants.

I wonder how Adebayor fits in here. I think he considered both Redknapp and Sherwood "mates" who just let him get on with his own style of play. We know he has strong opinions on how football should be played (standing up to AVB) so I think his future at the club will depend on whether or not he will accept the new philosophy and training regime.

Any player that thinks they are better than the team should be shown the door.

Lloris

Walker - Vertonghen - Lovren/Ferdinand - Shaw

Paulinho - Sandro

Lamela - Eriksen - Chadli

Remy

* That's assuming we can get both Shaw and Lovren through Poch link (hence Ferdinand if not Lovren), keep Lloris and Vertonghen, and get Remy. So not total dreaming here.

* Notice no Lallana: he's great, but we don't really need attacking mids; we do need a LB, and if we are to use Poch's personal ties I'd say try for Shaw over Lallana; we surely won't get both.

Let's hope that doesn't mean we need a major overhaul of the squad. The attitude problems Sherwood talked about could just mean that the players felt lost, both under his reign and AVB's.
I think it's because they couldn't man manage very well. The Potch is renowned for winning the dressing room and his military training regimes. In theory, he should whip them into shape.

He plays a high pressing back line that fashions through the pitch, where does this leave Dawson? Can Kaboul's legs handle it? Will Townsend work for the team? Will Adebayor's baggage get in the way? There's a million speculative questions to ask, let's just, as you say, hope it doesn't mean a major overhaul of the squad and only a couple of key signings. Namely left back, centre back, left wing and maybe a striker.

Midfield up is full of quality, just not managed properly: Lamela will be like a new signing; Eriksen really hit form end of season; Paulinho too; Chadli does a job. In their second season, managed properly, we are fine.

However, in Defence, Kaboul and Rose need to go. Kaboul is too injury prone, and Rose I'm afraid just isn't good enough. LB has been a throne i our side for years, and we just keep buying No. 10s...

Up front, Adey is way too unreliable, we should flog him to Moneybags Monaco for as much as possible. Then stick with Soldado, and bring in Remy.

Why the Rose tainted specs?

For me the only person we shoud steal from southampton is lovren, hopefully do it b4 people realise how good he really is.

Someone said that in poch's season it really isn't abt individual skill more about what if u fit in the team. The. One person whose an example of this IMO I'd dembele. His such an inbetween player I wouldn't put him in the line up.

Lloris
Walker. Lovren.Vertonghen. Anyone

Paulinho. Sandro (hopefully someone else with better ball playing)

Lamela. Eriksen. New Lw

Bony

I would sell ade and keep soldado although I dn't rate soldado atleast we can count on him to give it all (even though his all isn't that good)

I doubt that we won't buy anyone every new manager wants his own signings if its true that his being given 50 mill lovren bony and new lb and maybe a winger will be affordable especially if we sell dembele, siggy, livermore, lennon and ade.

Since we haven't signed just one new player it's too soon to talk about the line up.
I personally just hope that Pochettino can get the best out of the "out of favor" players like Lennon, Townsend and Rose so we can see them regularly in the starting eleven. I want to see some British Spurs lads in the team and hope Pochettino can deal with them.

Lloris
Walker-Vertonghen-Kaboul-Rose
Sandro-Dembele
Lamela-Eriksen-Chadli
Adebayor
Think that'd be exactly what i'd go for except Soldado over Ade (possibly likely due to language). Think he fits better as with high pressing and pinpoint through-balls I think he works better than Ade when he's at full potential.

Also don't understand everyone thinking we're going to get any Southampton players. Fans seem to hate him for leaving, so I wonder if that translates to the players as well, and the chairman didn't thank him for his work or anything, their statement sounded quite brash. Wouldn't expect any deals to be done for that reason.
