Ex-Spurs Player Harry Kane

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

That's what I expect our strikers to do, score GOALS, I am not really interested in how good they are in link up play or assists that's not what a striker is on the pitch for, it's all about our strikers putting the ball in the net,
Something Ade and Soldado have forgotten how to do.

You may not be interested in what strikers do other than score but dropping deep to win the ball and assisting are all part of a good strikers game.

Fortunately for Harry, he can do all that and score goals!

Delighted for him but this is the kind of opposition that can build confidence but until he is given the opportunity to do it against PL teams with greater regularity, I think he has had hardly any league action, his confidence might well continue to be affected by not being afforded that chance.

I really hope he plays against Newcastle.

Or maybe it's better to have him on the bench for now. Kane as first choice striker now can lead to three things:

- Him struggling, losing confidence, getting desperate, making mistakes, losing more confidence (See Townsend)
- Doing well, getting over confident, feeling he has achieved what he's worked so hard for, relaxing, stop developing, deteriorating as a footballer (See Lennon)
- Doing well, getting confident, building on that confidence, working hard every day to get even better, succeeding, leaving us for Real Madrid, leaving us with no striker the following five seasons.

As you can see, it's all bad.

He can join the play from the bench if need be but I'm not sure he has been doing that enough either. I mentioned in the Newcastle thread I would like him to start in a 442 formation, dropping deeper as he did last night but I doubt that will happen, frankly.

Based on yesterdays lineup I expect Soldado to be our forward against Newcastle. The Kane performance might change that, though.

Totally agree . Would suit 4-4-2. feel he would comprehend this far better than the 1-2-3-1-2-1 crap (whatever it is). I wish we played 4-4-2 every game keeping the same 11. Im sure two forwards are better than 1?

Does feel with Kane not just his goals but his all round contribution (goalkeeping not included) it's hard to justify Soldado and Ade being in the team if only one striker plays.

I am glad Kane is here as at least Bobby and Ade have to fight harder to be around the first 11.

Harry doing well makes me happy. He's played the long game at Spurs being there for a long time and consistently banging in goals for the youth team or wherever he has been on loan. He has been given his chance finally and he is grabbing his opportunity with both hands. Being a young Englishman if his play continues like this he will probably get hyped out of this universe but I'm really pleased how everything is going for him.

So useful to have a player like Kane. He can play pretty much any spot in the front four and is always a threat to score. Going to be nice as he continues to develop. Having a player with that much versatility means you can bring in pretty much anyone to play around him. A real luxury.

3 or 4 are better than 2, using the same logic, so why not 4-3-3, or 4-2-4?

It's not the formation, it's what they do on the pitch.

I also feel like Kane works the best with our mids. He plays the same give and go game as them. Soldado tries but most of the time fails, and Ade just hangs out with his thumb up his ass most of the time.

If we are sticking with the Chadli/Lamela/Eriksen thing then it's crucial Kane is in there.
