Match Tottenham Hotspur v Chelsea (3rd December)

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

the problem is when one of these young talents do develop into top quality players they get sold to the highest bidder

then levy buys more youth, fires the gaffer and the transition starts again

it's a vicious fucking cycle

psg have already started the tapping up process for Eriksen and they've alot more money than sense

True, you just have to hope (against common sense to some extent) that Real Madrid is just a different kettle of fish than any other club in the world and no one can say no to them. United had to sell Ronaldo to them for example. Hopefully, Modric and Bale were just extreme examples because they are so fucking good and such a massive club.

I'd like to believe that we can hold off a club like PSG which are in a much smaller league. If we can't, then my opinion will massively sway. However I do think a lot of our sale of Modric and Bale had to do more with Real Madrid than us. They simply get what they want every time. It wasn't like we shipped those two off to like Juventus or something for a bit of cash.

Admittedly, this is the positive look at things but I think that when Madrid wants your player it just happens eventually. We got lucky and unlucky to have two players good enough to excel in Champions League winning side. If we start flogging players off to PSG, I'll feel very differently.

it's the money involved and players forcing the move

real madrid are huge because they're rich as fuck

history only counts for so much and means very little without cash to back it up

if psg offer 50 mil and tell Eriksen they'll double his wages

that will be that

Can't believe how many are satisisfied with a three nil drubbing....

To dare is to do
Satisfied isn't maybe the best word. Don't get me wrong, I'm not thrilled. I certainly wanted some sort of result today, I've despised those cunts for longer than I've even been a passionate follower of football. In a lot of respects I rank those fuckers as being worse than Woolwich. I just think that a lot of the worst culprits for epic meltdowns in this thread have also been those that wanted us to put out a cup team.

Shit result to a team well beyond us in talent and capability. Worst part is they were a lot closer to us a few seasons ago. 3-0 is still a result that is tough to swallow.

I must admit, I wrote this one off before we'd even played it, such is our away record against them. I just wanted to see some fight in the players to follow through on the Everton performance. I'm undecided whether or not I am satisfied with the level of effort I saw, which seemed an improvement on the earlier season performances, but just not quite enough. I really think we need to blow away Palace to convince people that there is genuine, sustained improvement. Otherwise there needs to be some credible activity in January, and I'm not talking prospects or cheapo deals.

We got beaten by a better team. No biggie, let's move on.

We have 20 points now, not too far away from 4th or 5th. A few more wins should help us leapfrog into those places.

Only just seen the goals, Chelsea are a quality side no doubt about it but fuck me we are the masters of our own downfall, Lennon a spectator for the first goal, Lloris for the second and Remy absolutely raped Vertonghen for the third, put him on his arse... ah well onward and upward bring on palace.

Spurs playing quite well

Then the Lennon calamity followed by the Lloris calamity

Spurs then continue to play well

Then the JV calamity

Standard SB outcome where Spurs will always find a way not to win

Expected nothing from this game so subdued feelings this morning

We had some good moments against the team which would WALK the league this year - no shame

We need to recover swiftly and bag 3 points on Saturday - still only 5 points off 4th place

It's not just the academy. It's our whole transfer policy that has been based around buying young players. If you aren't willing to pin hope on young shoulders like Eriksen, Lamela, Walker, Mason, Bentaleb, Dier, Davies, Rose, Kane, etc. then the club has no hope at all IMO. This is the club now, gambling that these youngster we've collected will fulfill some of their promise.

If not them then who? Kaboul, Fazio, Lennon, Soldado, Capoue, Adebayor? All decent players don't get me wrong but hardly hope for the future? Hope that the club will invest big or effectively? Not likely.

Our hope lies in our under 25 contingent and maybe 2 or 3 additions that will likely also be young. We need to hope the lottery tickets we have hit.
Thanks for that press-release, Daniel

Hope all is well
