You don't think Chadli is working his socks off as much as Lamela?

In the league both Chadli and Lamela do have a tendency to go missing. So to does Eriksen. Of all 3 only one of them is consistently scoring and that man should not be dropped. The other 2 despite having better potential than Chadli aren't in anywhere near as good form and are under pressure from the likes of Townsend.
Personally when I watch I can see Lamela everywhere, Chadli on the other hand no so much. He does seem to be grabbing goals but maybe dropping him for someone that is going to be a wildfire on the pitch would have him looking on thinking 'I need to do more of that.' I think that Eriksen should be the core of our team and although everyone seems to think he's had a dip in form he should always start, he can produce magic.

Townsend would benefit a lot more playing on the pitch with Lamela as they both seem to drift around the top line. Chadli not so much. Townsend and Lamela are very similar and I think that if we had them both playing, cutting in, running at players, having pop shots and rotating we could really benefit.

In fairness, Lamela, Townsend and Chadli in the last couple of games have all switched wings to confuse the opposition. Chadli is a less graceful player than the other two, since he lacks Andros' direct pace, and Erik's stepover magic, but he is doing the same things, if you watch closely. The difference is just in style.

Aesthetically, I want to watch Erik and Andros turn on the style. But Nacer's willpower and muscle approach hasn't been ineffective.

Eriksen's headline numbers may look like he's slumping, but if you look below the Sky football numbers, he's actually the most important attacking player on the pitch for us, in just about every game.

The one plus of playing Lamela and Townsend is one of them has to be on the left and not cutting inside! that being said I still think the less glamorous Chadli deserves to play. A lot stronger and more direct than both of them and in better form, rabona and last night aside Lamela and Townsend are a bit behind him

I'm on a gif making spree!

Seems much better on the left, no cutting inside to shoot or having to cut back to cross, he can just go at defenders and cross the ball first time.

Also helps when having a proper target man good harry Kane.

He wasn't looking to cross too much. Many of his runs with into the middle, looking for a throughball chance it seemed. The bumpy pitch just prevented those runs from coming off.

He had a good game yesterday, my MOTM by a bit tbh. Pleased for him, but he need to go from here. I wouldn't mind if he got a League start on Sunday after last night.

Academy boys doing well, long must it continue!

Not a Townsend fan, but I think you can take away a lot of positives from the Newcastle came. He looked for through balls and whipped in a couple of dangerous crosses.

In a game where the team moved the ball quicker than i can remember, he still held on too long and opted to shoot rather than make an easy pass, but overall I was pleasantly surprised.

He clearly has talent he is just in need of coaching more than most. A fair few times tonight the camera would cut to Pochettino giving him instructions on the touch line. Hopefully MP is the one who can get the best out of him.

I think after last night he was the only player on the field that looked weak. He didn't look up to speed with the rest of them at all.

The ball was moved around quickly yet he insisted on holding the ball. He didn't look all that fast and was shrugged off the ball too easily.

I used to be a big Townsend fan but I'd accept an offer if it was for an adequate amount.

I was a big fan too before the injuries.. he desperately needs some direction/coaching to hone his skills so that he can finally produce on the pitch

Chadli played how Townsend should be playing, looking to get on the shoulder of his fullback and run onto through balls. I don't know why (maybe he's instructed to, or maybe it's his mentality) but he seemed to come deep for the ball and then run at players. He can get past quite a lot of players, but he's quite slow in getting a ball away and by the time he crosses/passes the opposition have had time to recover and mark up on our players.

He has the pace and he has a fairly decent cross on him, I don't know why he wants to come deep and run at players rather than hug the touchline and beat players with his pace.
