All fair and well. But do you really believe we'll buy a forward?

How can we not?

According to the ITK which seems to be right (Regarding Kaboul, Lennon, Adebayor) Levy came out and said he'd had enough of Adebayor. Seems almost certain he will be sold and Soldado may be loaned out; hate to say it, but even if he's not, he's next to useless.

Can't see Levy fucking up the momentum of the squad by not doing. A cup win is only 3 games away, 4th isn't out of the question....for fucking once I want to see us push on after January, add quality and go on a run.

See 2012 January window where we had substantially more momentum and clearly needed to add. We bought throw away additions in Saha and Nelsen, it could easily happen where we don't buy seriously.

I don't care if we buy 'seriously' or not. Only an idiot would think we'd buy a 20-25-30 mil striker in January. But I wouldn't mind us getting a few strikers on loan or on the cheap; anything less than £10 mil.

Even in 2012 we still bought in a striker, who did score a few goals. Levy loves to think he's right and this is his last throw of the dice; I think he'll put his neck on the line a little more than usual.

CM is going to be a bit of a problem the next month if Mason is out while Bentaleb is in Africa. We have bodies with Dembele, Capoue, Stambouli, Paulinho and Winks but we were so poor last season when we played midfield devoid of deep passing. Granted Kane, Eriksen, and Chadli are on another level this season but I still remain concerned about facing teams that park the bus without Mason or Bentaleb in the team.

That's not what I meant. I'd happily take Ings or someone of his price. But we do this every year, try to lowball other clubs in the inflated January window, waste a ton of time, get discouraged and do almost nothing. I hope it changes but we aren't generally active in January.

I bet we spend the whole month making noise about buying Bony while Swansea tell us it will cost 40m or some shit because it is midseason. Then in the end we'll get a shit ton of ITK about it being almost done and then we'll fail on deadline day with a final bid of a 17m.

One difference (hopefully) between now and then is that there are a few players who we appear willing to move on, and the funds/saving on the wage bill alone from two or three out the door would allow for a major signing. Judging by the acquisition of Mitchell to make our dealings more savvy, the signs are good.

Levy tends to fuck some things up, but one can only hope that he learns not to make the same mistake twice.

Fair points for sure. I just think if our alleged targets are Bony, Berahino, Benteke etc it isn't going to happen. Our transfer policy is very rigid in terms of paying premium transfer fees (except the Bale summer) and in January everything is inflated especially between EPL teams. If we want to an EPL striker we'll have spend big, I just can't see that reasonably happening.

I think that with things finally seeming to get on the right track that Levy may open it back up for the right players. Unfortunately, with Ade still on the books and Soldado sitting there he won't spend what's needed until one or both are moved on.

You're absolutely right - and this is why I want us to be shrewd with our signings. Hopefully the fans will have learned by now how much more satisfying it is to nurture a young talent and see them grow.
Gooners can be happy with Sanchez, but I doubt he is with them. I don't see the glory in having a mercenary with one eye on Manchester City in the team.

People might hate me for saying this but... I really don't want Bony. Buying him would be the worst thing for Kane's development, as both should be played in the centre. A great player, for sure, but he doesn't reek of versatility to me.
And as I said previously - we've missed the boat there. Our M.O. ain't about splashing the cash hard on a player who's come into prominence.

I think it's Kane is versatile and that's why I'm not concerned about us buying a good striker. For me, I don't think Kane looks much different playing #10 or leading the line. He's equally comfortable in both. It does shift Eriksen out left or right which is a slight concern but he does well anywhere.

Ultimately, we need another striker simply in terms of depth. I think we're lucky enough with Kane that we can go for any type of striker we want. Kane is so impressively versatile that it really makes our transfer committees job easier. Thus, if we can buy any type of player, we should go for a good one.

Going forward I really hope we make minimal and very specifically focused moves in the transfer market. We're going to have a chance to promote fullbacks, center defenders, pivot midfielders, #10s and wingers from the academy. We have talent at all those spots. We don't have any promising strikers. For me, we should go out and buy the best one we can attract.

Liverpool and City have shown that when you have incredible strikers that you can paper over other cracks. I don't think you can ever have too many players who put the ball in the back of the net. We know Kane can play with a striker in front of him. He's done it with Soldado, he's done it with Berahino the England u21s, and even done it with Obika coming up from our academy. We put another goal scorer in our attack and we could be so dangerous. Plus, we play a massive amount of games almost every season due to Europe. We need another player, I highly doubt it will hurt Kane's development, it could very well help and we wouldn't have to worry about burning him out either. The boy is playing every game.

True. If we hypothetically went to the final of every cup competition we're in, we would end up playing an additional 3(COC) + 6(FA cup) + 9(Europa) = 18 matches. And that excludes any FA cup fixture replays.

In other words, we could end up playing double the number of matches left in the league. Poch's fitness regimen is playing dividends, but he can't stop the clumsy tackle from an opposition thug putting one of our best players out for months.
Our squad depth, on paper, is fantastic. But then you look at who isn't being used, and who isn't very good.

So the fat lad Bony is off to City to join fat Frank. Liverpool will outbid us for Berahino. We wont pay the money for Benteke. That leaves us Ings or going abroad.
Wouldn't mind Ings. Haven't seen him play much but every time I have he looked like a smart player with some pace. I didn't realize he was so young. Wouldn't really care about missing out on Berahino. Looks to be a good player but Ings will be cheaper.

Danny Ings has really impressed me everytime I've watched him play. I wouldn't say no to having him, plus he'd probably be a cheaper option then Bony/Benteke. We need to get a centre mid more then anything though!

Okay, so professionals with contacts within the clubs say that's the case, you decide off the top your head that its bullshit. I'll take your word over them

professionals with contacts in the club?
