Match Tottenham Hotspur v Crystal Palace

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Sure, it looks like their home crowds are having fun with their singing and flag waving (nothing wrong with that of course), but it's not an intimidating ground to play in.

I went to the game last year and aside from an impressive display before kick off I thought their fans were shit. Genuinely could not here them, some of this might be down to the location of the away support (in the corner along the touchline) as from here you can't see much of what is going on up the other end. But just like any another home crowd they sit on their hands unless their team is actually looking good. Credit to the homesdale efforts in trying to generate an atmosphere, but in reality it is only a hardcore of 200-400 people that sing constantly, and like 1882 is great fun to be part of but in reality due to the small numbers the noise generated by them when the rest of the stadium is not singing is barely audible more than 2 or 3 blocks away. But as Benny Benny said it is one of the least intimidating stadiums I have ever been in.

I've been to their ground a few times in with their home support as I've got a few mates who are palace fans. Tbf when I've been there there were large sections of the holmesdale and Arthur wait (?) stands singing constantly throughout their games, a much, much better atmosphere than the park lane. Except, I dunno, their chants are sometimes a bit sort of cringey as well. Agree it's definitely not an intimidating ground, our away support is easily as good

Crystal Palace v Tottenham (17:30 GMT)

Tottenham have only lost twice away from home in the Premier League this season - to joint leaders Manchester City and Chelsea - which is a great record.

But Crystal Palace were a bit unlucky not to beat them at White Hart Lane at the start of December, and they will have another go at them on Saturday.

The atmosphere for Alan Pardew's first home game in charge of the Eagles could play a big part in the outcome, and I have a feeling that he will mark it with a victory.

Lawro's prediction: 2-0

Curious to know what actually qualifies an 'intimidating stadium' ? Is it architectural features within the ground? Are there some medieval gargoyles lurking near the corner flags at the KC stadium? I alway thought it was only because of the fans in a stadium that it would ever be classed as intimidating.

My point being that Palace fans seem the loudest in the premier league so surely that would put them in the 'intimidating ground' category ... anyway, my prediction , 2-0 Spurs , Fazio and Kane with the goals

No Jedinack big loss

Windy said on Twitter that Mason is out for this. If we are forced to endure Paulinho would rather we played him at the number 10 and dropped Eriksen deep. Watching him dawdle on the ball deep in midfield is terrifying.

This is what I would go for I think, but it would be risky.

[formation=4231, Lloris, Walker, Fazio, Vertonghen, Davies, Dembele, Eriksen, Townsend, Onomah, Chadli, Kane][/formation]

I miss Bentaleb so much.

Difficult with Bentaleb/Mason out.. Might be a good idea like JDK JDK suggests to play Eriksen deeper. I would like to start like this though:
[formation=4231, Lloris, Walker, Fazio, Vertonghen, Davies, Dembele, Stambouli, Townsend, Eriksen, Chadli, Kane][/formation]

Lawro, and other newspaper prediction experts would be far below a ROI of 1.00 if they were into betting. Even the betting experts you've got in the papers would be in the red.
Their predictions, odds and whatnot, has been collected by serious betting communities and proven to be utterly worthless. Little better than betting blindly. One by one, they are all scum.

So don't pay them any attention. They are not experts. It's that simple.

Give Crystal Palace enough seasons in the Premier League, with increasing ticket prices and expectations, and their 'renowned' support will get a lot less noisy very quickly.

Having said that, they have Pardew now, so the fan turmoil has probably been fast tracked!

Interesting, have thought about Eriksen in the deeper role for a while. Heard great things about Onomah, you think he is ready for this game?

The ghetto that surrounds it

Much as the media and 'modern football' doesn't want you or any of us to say it... for fear of glorifying hooliganism... but genuinely fearing for your safety within the ground, and not making it back to the station in one piece is what (used to) create an 'intimidating' atmosphere at games... not flags, or, dare I say, ticker-tape!!
