Match Burnley v Tottenham Hotspur, Sunday 5th April, 13:30

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Things are never as good as they are and things are never as bad as we are. We forget that this is a true transitional period for Spurs. Individual performances are more important than team performances at this point.

What's worrying to me is that Mason and Bentaleb have looked mediocre at best the last few weeks. They look scared and have trouble making easy passes.

It will take a couple of seasons for Spurs to truly find themselves. Right now we have to buckle up for a bumpy ride and hope that in the summer we can offload all this dead-weight.

I just want to be entertained. After a break we should look up for it, not completely asleep against relegation threatened sides. That was the most drab match I've seen in quite a while, and I don't think that's entitlement speaking. I don't have a big problem with trying and failing, but we never even got going today. Or, yesterday for you guys. Burnley didn't play out of their skins either, so I don't think that their result against City really played into this match very much at all. We just didn't look up for it and with the lineup that Pochettino put out today it looked like a return to AVB's team, with zero urgency to actually do anything with the ball. To me that was acting entitled, with the team acting as though all they had to do to grab all three points was simply show up.

Too many late winners this season, maybe.

We can't get 4th and have nothing to play for now. I don't know why people are getting so stressed out. The rest of our games are meaningless now and not worth getting angry over.

& if we don't can we give you a chore Or task to do? :D

If we do get top 4 I will eat & provide photographic evidence Of tripe consumption .. The very thought makes me wretch

I'm sure fans attitudes on a forum have very little affect on the team.
Negative energy is real and I think what's been going on here over the past few weeks is hurting our team from sammyspurs psychic vampirism to the black aura of disgust via carlos brigante

Because

We've gone from chasing 4th to the last day (and getting it), to season over with ten games left.
Not worth being angry about you say?
I'm saying there's just no point getting worked up during games for the rest of the season as the games are now meaningless. I accepted at the start of the season that it would be a transitional one as we have a new manager and a very average squad.

i agree. i like both mason & bentaleb. i think bentaleb has more potential & is more classy. but as a combination it doesnt really work. still a good combo but not great. & as u say leaves erikson isolated which in turn does the same to kane. we could do with a classy more game controlling CM to partner 1 of them. let bentalab & mason fight it out for that role. but both will still get a lot of game time. we are lucky to have them both. do u guys think bentaleb & schinderlin would work?
I don't think Mason and Bentaleb isolate Eriksen. Eeriness was not playing the 'No10' role yesterday, Paulihno was. He was coming to deep, he isolated Kane. That meant that Eriksen was invariably in front of him, and as Chadli was not making any runs, when Eriksen had the ball there was nobody but Kane, in front. Mason was the only midfielder who got in behind but never got the ball.

Also, I rate Bentaleb but he does seem to be immune from criticism. He has either been told not to venture past the halfway line or make runs, or he just doesn't.
We have two C midfielders, one who will get forward (mason) and one who will not and seems to lack any range of forward passing. It's either backwards or sidewards. He hasn't got the range of passing to just sit back in front of the back 4 spraying passes about, and he's not that good ball winning beast either. He is also not the type of player who will take a midfielder out by beating a man and driving forward. So what we have is a player who sits back, receives the ball from the back 4 and knocks it from side to side or back.

Nabil has to take control in the midfield if he's gong to sit there or has to start making runs and supplying options with movement ( as does every other midfielder when we are attacking) and doing a bit of both.
I personally think Mason should play alongside Stambouli. Stambouli is better offensively will make more key passes, is a better dribbler and just as good defensively.
Let look at out league goalscoring apart from Kane/Eriksen:
Chadli 8
Rose 3
Adebayor 2
AT 2
Dier 2
Mason 1
Lamela 1
Soldado 1
Dembele 1
Bentaleb 0
Capoue 0
Stambouli 0
Paulinho 0
Vlad 0
Simply not good enough
Dembele, Bentaleb, Stambouli, Capoue, Paulinho all players that you should only have one of in a team.

Seems like some of the Poch fan club are waking up to the fact that he definitely isn't the Messiah. He isn't a 'naughty boy' either. Just a manager who's doing okay. He has us in 6th place which given our finances is about right. He hasn't won anything in his first year, which is something we are all too painfully used to under ENIC.

I just hope we can have a more realistic debate about him, as more people understand he is getting plenty wrong as well as plenty right.
One good sign yesterday was we didn't seem to be playing such an 'extreme' high line as we have done recently. Relying more 'defending' than the lino's flag to keep our goal intact. Be interesting to see what happens next game.

Agree with the above other than to say that the optimum number of Paulinhos and Capoues is always 0.

Why...are we beating the lower teams with ease?
No, because you expect to - away from home - like la liga. Either this is a competitive league, where top 6 sides can have difficult games against the bottom 6, or it isn't. If it is, don't go crazy when we have difficult games against them. Jeez, many people were predicting a Burnley win, and then go even more overboard when we drew.

I think we can all agree that the performance yesterday wasn't what we expected, it didn't need pointing out quite so much IMO.

Why isnt Mason not in the list of not good enough. He's had twice as much gametime than Dembele and scored no more than him and until very recently was on ZERO goals.
