The England international has released a statement to "set the record straight" over his future.

"I'm not leaving," said Delph, 25, who signed a new four-and-a-half-year deal at Villa in January.

"I'm staying at the football club and I can't wait for the start of the Premier League season."

Does that mean he´s not good enough after all then? Im not sure whether he was being judged on his mis perceived transfer, or as an actual player. Its very easy to think "he went to City so he´s better than what we have", but thats not really how things work.

Anyone still pining after Bony......?

I agree with the first part, but you're having a laugh, if you think Bony is below us. If given the chance, I'd take him in a heartbeat.
 
Delph is simply at city to pad out the home grown, a nice safe option like Milner they can have play against some shit sides, Rodwell and Sinclair style, then they can now concentrate on players they really want like Pogba

There's enough examples of those statements being an attempt to win cheap points with fans. If the player gets the chance to move, they've lost nothing as in almost all cases, the fans will turn on the departing player; statement or not.

We all love hearing Kane say those things about staying, because he's one of our own. But for a club at our particular level, nearly everyone, we've brought from the outside, has already turned their back on at least one club and their fans to join us and more importantly, for them, to advance their careers. Hurt though it may, can we really blame them, when they do the same again? I'll keep hoping otherwise but end of the day, it would be strange if Hugo wasn't tempted by United or PSG. So I don't need a lying statement. All I want is for the guy to remain professional and keep working hard for us and this club until circumstances change (ie. don't be a cunt like Sterling or Modric).
