Adebayor, Soldado, Vlad and, dare I say it, Andros on the way out? When done expect incomings.
Probably one before the season KO.

The only thing stopping Ade being sold to Villa is his wages. Otherwise why isn't he there? He wants to play for Timmy, they want him to play, we want rid. Can't think we are asking that much for him.
He's going to have to take a massive pay cut. Even if he's loaned will they pay half his current wage for a year making him one of their 3 highest earners?
I have a feeling they don't want him that much and he's willing to sit it out for a year and pocket a bit more on a free contract next season.

Penalties count. Also....what the fuckerty fuck is going on when we are 10 days away from the start of the season yet have 4 keepers and 1 striker for the prestige US game ?

This is even more insane when we could be walking out @ OT in the same situation with 3 keepers in the match day squad. We are looking very very light in key areas
Isn't Shaquile Coulthirst a striker?

Fuck sake, there are still people who think penalties don't count?

Penalties that are scored effect the game. If you're 1-0 up, you will attack and try and score another. If you're 2-0 you'll sit back and control the game. It effects how the game unravels, you can't simply dismiss it.

If Berahino had scored 0 penalties he might have scored more from open play, although less goals over all. And therefore he'd be a better player? What? It makes no sense. Berahino is a good player and anyone who says he isn't is talking shit.
They are not a measure of a striker's qualities. Full Stop. There are teams that have the keeper as the designated penalty taker. It's a free kick from close range with no defence. It's a skill any idiot can do, which is why clubs don't factor them in when comparing strikers.

This lays it out better than I can:

I have no idea, I should've quoted the post which showed the initial tweet, CBA to trawl back 1 page.
I`m self employed, so I do run a business. But what the fuck has that got to do with it. This is a Football forum, not a fucking business forum. And how do you know we cant afford 25million. With all the mega TV deals etc... the club has never been in a healthier financial position. I was merely replying to someones suggestion that we should not be paying 25million for Berahino. And quite a few others agreed with me. Unusual, I know, but they did. Why worry about the price tag.
Yes it does. You said we should spend £25m whether we have it or not, You aint losing any sleep about us doing a leeds or portsmouth. How do you know if we can't afford it. It's obvious mate. Er, your a businessman. Look at the last accounts. You should understand them. Take into factor the New stadium, etc.
You cannot spend more than you make, otherwise you go into debt. FFP also says that. So, does the same spend, spend, spend - regardless if you have it - apply to your business then? Do you borrow knowing you cannot realistically pay it back?
Why worry about the price tag? Well, I cannot afford to go and buy a Ferrari right now, unless I sell everything I own, and mortgage my house. Hey, but why worry about the price tag.
Just as spurs cannot go and buy a £25m player , unless they sell. Even then we have a wage structure.
Is your business model, 'why worry about the price tag' just go into debt?

Oh, mega TV deals? Look at how much we make compared to Liverpool, City, Chavs, Man U and Woolwich.
I just don't know what's happened to our lot. When have we ever spent £25m on a player without selling someone we wanted to keep?
I suppose the project that have been finished and the projects in the pipeline, the professional fees, the contractors and the land needed to complete them are all free.

There is no guarantee that if you spend big on player it will get you what you want. However, wage bills invariably correlate with league position.
Man U spent £104m to get into the CL, even if it was only by six points with a far superior squad of players and playing less matches. We cannot afford to do that. If we do get into the CL, we couldn't attract the players as we couldn't pay the wages.
Mate times have changed. Don't let one big spending summer and 2 fourth places cloud your judgement.
Even Liverpool realise they can't compete with the other 4. we are going to have to get out heads out of our arses.

Following the forum for a long time but just signed up, tended to scroll through all the in fighting but as the transfers have dried up, the Levy hate and bickering seems to be the only guarantee on here.

Glad the deadwood clearout has began as only a season ago the club seemed to be rudderless and lacking any identity, fast forward a season and a bit and we seem to have some of the most talented youngsters going through age levels and a first team squad with a passion and hunger that will take us forward.

Not a fucking chance we will get Berahino for the 15m talked about, it will be more towards 22-23 at least and I think he's worth it. If we can add 1 other striker (unlikely I know), a winger to play on either side and a centre midfielder I will be one happy Yiddo.

To go, Lennon, Fazio, Townsend (for the right price) plus the usual suspects of Ade, Soldado, Chiriches.

After finally posting I feel one of the gang, before I felt like a voyeur getting excited in the corner of the room watching you all have fun.

Berahino didn't score 20 from open play, he scored 10 from open play in the League. The penalties aren't relevant.

There isn't any wariness over Ligue 1, if there was, we would have seen all those players coming to Newcastle, and now Aston Villa an West Ham as well.

The assists number isn't so important, as it depends on the guy you pass to actually scoring. Christian Eriksen had zero assists last year. Was that his fault?

As far as who I want, I don't think there really is anyone currently on the market who is perfect. Berahino has a pre-existing relationship, and is already in the Premier League, but is less than stellar. Batshuayi has gobs of potential but is untested outside of France. Werner is even more of a hopeful signing.

I think we may better off trying to recruit more for LW, and convert Chadli to a striker than shopping for an explicit striker. There is no one possibly available who we can afford and who would fit well for us.

If pigs fly, I'd take Aubameyang, but I really, really don't see that happening.
just out of interest does anyone know how many of the penalties he scored he won himself... because then they would be relevant

I think that Ade, Lennon, Vlad and Soldado are the remaining outgoings. I expect to see Andros (for one more season) and Fazio at the club next season.

People seem to have forgotten the fact that we are building a new stadium.
Yes, I know Abramovich and the Arabs spend more than they earn. But they are not running their clubs as businesses. Levy is, admittedly, but he is running it a fuck load better than any of the other businessmen out there.
I too would like a sugar daddy to come in and pump shit loads of cash into the club. But unless anyone out there has the number for said sugar daddy; do us all a favour and shut the fuck up

They do track the number of fouls a player receives, and the location. But that's something that would be separate from the penalties. You don't have to take free kick/penalty following being fouled yourself.
i know u don't have to take them urself, my point was where you said they were irelevant but if he won some of the penalties himself it proves that hes is dangerous and effective rather than you just writing of some of the goals he scored just because they were penalties, and for the record theres nothing wrong with scoring penalties

If we don't count penalties, do we count one on ones with the keeper? Free headers from inside the box? Goals against shite defences? Free kicks against crappy walls?

Penalties are pretty fucking important. As Roberto Baggio, Martin Palermo, etc.

I reckon Shaq could be an adequate replacement for Soldado and Adebayor. All he has to do is run around and miss nearly every chance that comes his way. He might even surprise us by scoring more than one or two.

Well, leave the business side out then. Dont worry about how much Levy is not willing to spend on this or that player, as that's business. Just concentrate on the football side of it. We get who we get. Not because we were too tight, but because the player did not want to come or we either could not afford fee or terms.

If only the transfer window was like FIFA 15. However, in real life only a few teams in the world have bundles of coins and there is only one of each player.
